When I started looking for invitations, I had a specific idea in mind of what I’d like, which was a simple ecru paper with a live oak at the top with Spanish moss draped off it. Our ceremony is held at a chapel on the grounds of a boys’ school and these trees are everywhere:
And I thought a nice way to tie those into the invitations would be to use an illustration of a live oak on them. I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for online, so I used etsy Alchemy (before they shut it down!) to put out a request. I got a bunch of bids, but I chose the seller I did based on her work in her shop and because she could offer me the design I needed with RSVP postcards for even less than my quoted price.
Last night she sent me the digital rough copy and then worked with me for over an hour to get everything perfect and tomorrow she’s sending them. I just had to show you what an amazing job she did on the tree:
I hate that I had to edit them, but you know how it goes.
What do yall think? I was just blown away at how perfectly she did that tree. Most of the designers who put in bids before hers gave me trees that looked like weeping willows, or were just silhouettes so you couldn’t see the detail in the branches. I think she nailed it. She’s shipping them tomorrow and I can’t wait to get them.

Thank you! I couldn’t find anything like this on any of the websites with premade invites, so I resorted to Alchemy to see if anyone could create it. I think she did such a great job.
(Also, the invitations will be on much heavier cardstock; these were just her sample printing so I could see how they’d look not digital-ized.)

What a nice job- so personal and nice that you found someone who could follow your vision. So pretty! Don’t you just love Etsy? I got my wedding invitations there too, and we received tons of emails and phone calls from people who LOVED them!

Beautiful…always remember that you can still contact individual sellers on Etsy. Makes it harder but I’ve had great luck in simply asking a seller for something based on a product or skill I saw in their shop.
