Does she have to make it before she ships it? If so, I think that’s reasonable. If it’s already made and just sitting around her house, then no, I don’t see why she can’t get to the post office sooner.

It’s reasonable. It means she is making them to order. Everything I’ve ever bought on Etsy took the same amount of time.

Oh, I just looked and it said they’re made to order. I think that’s reasonable then. Those things take time and she probably has quite a few things she’s working on besides your order.

@bells:

Maybe she meant she had the material available to make two? I don’t know, but it says they are custom made, so I would assume that’s what she meant.

Hi there!

If you look up the shop’s policies of your sellers, you’ll see, under shipping, that “Orders are shipped within 10-14 days of cleared payment via USPS First Class with Delivery Confirmation in the US, or UPS Ground or FedEx Ground for large items.”

I’d recommend, if you ever buy again on Etsy, that you always check the shop policies, that will save you some hassle.  I also check the feedback the seller has, and the number of sale she/he did up to now.

Hopefully that helps you!

Did you read her store policies before you purchased? Her policies section clearly states that orders are shipped 10-14 days after payment.

I would just message her if you want to cancel the order, most of the sellers are really reasonable. In the future, always message the seller before you place an order (this has helped me avoid sellers who are totally unresponsive).

I would message her a message explaining that you’re new to etsy, didn’t realize the item was made to order, when your wedding is, etc, and see if she’s able to create and ship it sooner. It never hurts to ask! A lot of shops also offer listings for a rush fee, which can be applied to any order – it might not hurt to offer her 10% of the price you paid or something to rush it and ship within the week.

Etsy isn’t the same as buying from an online store like Amazon.

If you needed sooner than her normal ship times, you should have communicated with the seller before you purchased. And always read the shipping policies. I know…hard to say AFTER the fact but the seller isn’t in the wrong here.

If she listed as having 2 but they are custom made, I would assume that she had 2 bases or 2 sets of materials, not 2 actual items ready to ship out.

I’ve had great experiences with etsy but I’ve always communicated with the sellers before purchasing just to make sure all the expectations are reasonable.
