If you paid through paypal you can report her through that. Other than that, that really sucks. Maybe someone on here can refer you?

I had the same thing happen with the user who was supposed to make my wedding dress. Reported her to Etsy, tried to go through Paypal (no luck there–they denied my claim and wouldn’t let me appeal). Your best bet is to go through your credit card company.

How can paypal deny that? That’s ridiculous. I hate dishonest people. They really irk me.

@elliegraye: I have no idea. I was still within the 45-day window, but they decided to close it anyway. I didn’t bother to get in touch with my CC company because there was too much other crap going on in my life at that time, so I chalked it up to a costly lesson.

We got ours from Mudcards, she’s got some ones with pets for $105  We custom ordered through her.  She may be able to help you out!

What a nightmare! Sorry you went through that. I would definitely have your credit card company try to recoup the money for you.

I got my custom cake topper (including pets) done through bluebutterflydesign on Etsy. I think her turnaround is 4 weeeks but she charges a little more than $100. Might be worth checking out to see if you could fit in her timeline. We were really pleased and have our cake toppers in hand.

@futuremrse: I’m feeling like another bee had this same issue with a seller on Etsy. And just so happens it was over a cake topper. Not sure if it was the same seller….

WOW! That sucks!  I think you can still call your credit card.  I sell stuff online and I once got a chargeback like 6 months later…but luckily I had proof of delivery so I was safe.  In your case, if you used a reputable credit card company like American Express, they should be able to cover your purchase (even if they have to reimburse you for it upfront, they will fight for their money back with the seller on their own dime).  I’ve had friends tell me horror stories but luckily their credit card company just reimbursed them. That is what is good about using your cc as a back.

Find another Etsy seller who can expedite your order.  Good luck!

@futuremrse: Have you considered making your own? I’m in the process of making ours and aside from the tedious sanding to get shape (I used a dowel rod and dowel finials as my base material) it isn’t too bad.

So, if we see this as a lesson learned..how do we prevent this from happening? What CAN be done about it?
