Definitely agree with hyperventilate and others, read customer reviews — specifically ones that mention gem quality, workmanship and communication. Make sure the vendor has some sort of product guarantee and reasonable return policy. It doesn’t hurt to google search as well for any hint of negative reviews. Good luck.

I got my wedding band from Rosados Box on Etsy and cannot recommend Shirley and her company enough! She was fabulous when it came to communication and sent me progress pictures!

I had a brilliant experience working with Miranda Scott of House on Hudson. I’m in Australia, and she’s based in Canada, so this was a pretty big leap of faith on my part! I’d gone from not caring at all about getting an engagement ring, to falling in love with the design of her “Rustic Moissanite Engagement Ring“, and, well, I knew I had to have it.

My advice would be to send the seller a message just to test the water. Someone who responds promptly and clearly is a good sign to begin with. If they’re an actual jeweller you’ll probably find that they are willing to work with you to create or adapt the piece that they’ve got on sale. Also, I’d suggest getting your ring sized at a brick-and-mortar jewellery store, and even trying on rings that are similar to the one you’ve got your eye on to make sure you won’t be surprised by how it looks on your finger!

When I found the ring, I knew that it was in silver, which wasn’t going to be super great for me since I’m incredibly lazy and I wanted this to be the only engagement ring I got. Miranda and I sent a few messages back and forth and she suggested a few options – on her advice, I went with a white gold band and a rose gold bezel so that I could mimic the style of the original ring more closely and, since I wasn’t buying the wedding bands immediately, I’d have more options for matching my ring at a later date.

She gave me a quote (just under $1300), offered me a payment plan. Since we had the money on hand, we just paid half the amount as a deposit. When the ring was ready, Miranda sent me photos so I could sign off on it and then I paid the other half of the amount.

I’m really happy with my experience and the ring!

Now some ring porn yaaaay.

Here’s the ring Miranda was selling in her store:

And here is the finished product:

Both of our rings are from Etsy.

Mine is a wedding set from Wexford Jewelers that includes both the e-ring and weddning band. His is a really cool combination of wood, titanium, and amber from Wedgewood Rings. We had great experiences ordering both and couldn’t be happier with the end results πŸ™‚

@Lizabean:  I honestly wish I’d been on the hive before we got engaged because I could have been so much more creative with our choice of engagement ring.  Had I known morganite existed I would definitely have chosen it, that peachy colour is my favourite!  You are very lucky πŸ™‚

@goingtotherooftopoflove:  Thanks! I am not a big jewelry person and my Fiance was against getting buying any women a ring. With that knowledge in hand and no real big desire for a diamond I started to look at my options. I decided if he was ever going to get me a ring I needed to find something lower in price and conflict free. I came across this on etsy and fell in love. I told him if you ever ask me, get me this. I didn’t think I would ever get it. We had already been together 7 years when he asked. I feel lucky! Do you have your ring already? Are you looking for a band?

@Lizabean:  That’s sweet!  Lovely that you found something you love but he loves too πŸ™‚  Yes, we ended up getting it from a local jewelry chain.   I love it, but I will admit there were days that I wish I’d known about morganite & moissanite so I could have got a centre stone rather than a cluster. I discovered the hive a couple of months too late!  And yes, mine comes with a matching band.  It’s pretty, I just find yours to be breathtaking and 100% my style too πŸ˜›

I had an amazing experience with Studio1040 on Etsy. Jacqui is a very talented, caring vendor and cares very much about her product. She worked closely with me for every step in crafting my custom ring (a 1.4 carat gray diamond, 14k white gold band). Sorry if these images are huge, I’m posting from my phone πŸ™‚

My engagement ring is from etsy: j.wong studio. She was hands on with everything! Communicates quick and very friendly. She also gives a year warranty πŸ™‚ Forever Brilliant Moissanite with diamomd halo details. The half eternity ring is from a local jeweler. 1.80cts diamonds πŸ™‚ I can’t stop staring!
