amb1030:  it’s possible it’s the same ring if they way over-polished it with the wrong tool. But it doesn’t look nearly as good and I’d just return it and be done with it.

Looks like they let an amateur get after it with a buffer. Buffers can take away details like that. I’ve done it.

amb1030:  Yeah…no, that is definitely not the same ring! The dupe isn’t even a good dupe! Unless it travelled back in time, polishing wouldn’t make it look “that new” and the work on the sides isn’t remotely the same as the originally listed ring. I’m glad you’re getting your money back.

I’d still contact Etsy to let them know what’s happened with this vendor.

amb1030:  I’d be giving that seller some serious side eye. Definitely a replica, the filigree is different in several places. Alert Etsy about this, because she shouldn’t be pulling this scam and then acting like shes doing you such a favor for accepting a return.

Please contact Paypal too- because they need to be aware of the situation- they may do a reverse claim saying you sent them a different ring!!

additionally- paypal is amazing about refunding you even if the seller does not.  And they want to know about businesses that are shady!

It’s clear as day that those are not the same rings. Just send your photos to Etsy and Paypal and let them handle it.

That’s not the same ring. Anyone can see that. Even if they over polished it, that wouldn’t make the filigree bulkier in some places….

Also, 25 5 star ratings isn’t a lot. It would be one thing if the store had hundred of reviews, but 25 really isn’t that many. They have no case.

amb1030:  I mean of course she’s going to be defensive, she got caught! Stick to your guns and don’t back down. It’s clearly a replica, but even if by some crazy twist it isn’t, it’s damaged and is still not the item that was described. Even the way she replied to you initially was weird and not super professional. Just ugh.

amb1030:

They’re roasting you because that’s all they can do as your pictures prove they’re friggin’ liars, or they are REALLY incompetent with buffering and should be embarrassed as a seller for sending you that atrociously different ring compared to the listing picture.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense on Etsy SHOULD see it.

As far as I know, you do not need to close the case until everything is fully resolved. Go ahead and return the ring, and then wait until you’ve received your refund before closing the case.
