I haven’t, but man I am sorry. I think sometimes small business owners get in a bit over their heads and ignore emails/calls instead of facing it head on. I really hope it gets there soon! Do you have any pictures we can oogle of it in the meantime? 🙂

Unfortunately I haven’t 🙁 That really sucks, especially since, like you said, it reflects badly on the entire community of Etsy sellers. Did they provide tracking or anything once they said it shipped??

That is terrible…

Did they provide you with a tracking number?

Did they give you are reason to the delay?

@mainejen:  Wow! That is a great ring! …now if you could only get it, right?

Now that I’m thinking about it, I did have a similar experience where I had ordered a birthday gift for my SO from a local small business (instead of buying it online or from a mass retailer) who promised to ship out within 1-2 business days. It took 3 weeks, and tons of time and effort to track it down and get any information whatsoever from the company.

It’s so frustrating because people always talk about how important it is to support small business (and I agree), but they’re shooting themselves in the foot when they fail to provide good customer service.

Sorry you’re going through this. I’m dealing with something similar. I ordered a custom cake topper on Etsy last November. Her shop page says to allow 14-16 weeks for delivery. Well, it’s been over 6 months. I messaged her at the 5 month mark and was told it would be finished by early May. When I messaged her at the 6 month mark, she told me she’d have pictures for me by late the next week. Yesterday I decided to message her again to ask what time I should be expecting the pictures, and she told me she’ll have them to me today. I’m wary. I’m also completely frustrated and irritated because I’ve been tracking her feedback and noticing that people who ordered their toppers months after me have been receiving them. I’m wondering if she forgot about mine and didn’t want to tell me. I’m worried because my wedding is fast approaching and I’m questioning whether I should start looking for a backup.

I’ve purchased a lot of things for my wedding on Etsy and this has been my only negative experience.

I sure hope it all works out…

Please keep us posted.

I buy a LOT on Etsy so I might send you a convo to ask who the seller is.

Ugh, that SUCKS! I am so sorry you’re dealing with this. I’ve definitely dealt with customer service nightmares in general, and anxiety-causing delays in communication/shipping custom items on Etsy. But on Etsy specifically, I haven’t had anything this serious happen. It sounds to me like they are in way over their head(s), got greedy, and instead of closing down their shop for a bit so they could have time to fill previous orders they had backed up, they just kept taking people’s money.

I ordered once from DollishPolish (awesome nail polishes, BTW!) when they were still on Etsy, and it took a while for the order to get filled because she was so busy. But she temporarily stopped accepting new orders, got help from a friend, and worked round the clock to get the orders out as soon as she could. She was also very open and honest about the time frame of my order getting filled in our communications, and she always answered within 24 hours. THAT’S the way it should be done when an Esty shop is overwhelmed with orders!

Anyway, I hope everything works out with your ring – keep us updated!

@mainejen:  Wow that’s terrible service! I’ve only purchased 1 item on Etsy and it went well so I can’t say I’ve had a similar experience. I’ve had pretty bad experiences on EBay though. Filing a claim is so time consumimg when all they have to do is respond! I’m sorry this is happening to you guys and I hope it gets resolved soon.  That is one awesome ring!
