One carat is considered big where I live lol

I didn’t know it is considered small in some places!

Irish bee here, my centre diamond is 1.20 and the side pears are .3 each. But my ring doesn’t look overly big as I had really big hands. I’d say most of my friends have a carat roughly whether that’s the main stone or all combined. I can’t say that’s a representation of the whole country though as I’m from Dublin as are the majority of my friends and colleagues. I don’t think too much importance is placed on ring size in Ireland. I always look and think oh that ring really suits her hand. Maybe that’s cause of my man hands!

kmts111 :  I don’t live in Ireland but my Fiance is Irish! Some of his relatives live in Cork and we go there every other year. From what I recall, most diamonds are smallish. Definitely 1 carat or less.

I’m from Scotland and I didn’t know much about engagement ring sizes etc before but was absolutely delighted with my ring which is a 2ct oval which suits my long fingers. After i received this I had a few comments from people about how big it is and what kind of job my fiancé has – rather uncomfortable coming from shop assistants etc. I don’t think it matters much as long as the person likes it!

@ukweddingbee jealousy I’d say!

Mine’s just over a carat and I got some surprised faces when I got engaged…

You don’t generally see anything above a carat in the UK. That being said I’ve been to a few client meetings recently with senior people rocking big stones.

My ring is considered huge here at 0.66 center stone. Most women I see with rings (not everyone gets one) is either an eternity band or 0.25 and under. kmts111 :
