I’ve heard a lot (on here) that it’s mostly Americans who care about the size of a rock in an engagement ring. Disclaimer: I’m American and I don’t care lol. I’d love to see the rings of some European brides, big or small. I think it would be interesting to see your “trends,” for lack of a better word. Pretty please!

I don’t have a ‘European ring’ as my Darling Husband isn’t European but at least where I come from (Northern Europe), the engagement ring is traditionally a plain golden band and also men wear engagement rings. Wedding bands tend to have diamonds in them (the men keep their engagement ring) but they look different than the Anglo-American engagement rings.
My 0.7 ct solitaire is MASSIVE in Northern Europe! It’s just not what people are accustomed to, regardless of how wealthy they are.

UK here! Its true rings are generally smaller here. Mine is .7 cts and considered medium to large amongst my friends. Most of the rings here are round solitaires but other styles are growing in popularity so more and more are becoming available. Heres mine:

great thread! I’m excited to see rings from all far-away lands 🙂

Mine is 0.5 ct and feels huge where I live. I sometimes feel a bit guilty about it. Noone at my workplace has a diamond like that.
Not going to post it as its so unusual, I have never seen another like it, so of course it wouldnt help your thread. IT also doesnt photograph so well. Its a good emerald cut diamond horizontal in a bezel type platinum setting. Totally minimal style which shows off the stone. and also suitable for my outdoorsy lifestyle.

zamorski: I nearly bought one like that. And the ring on my right hand is a moonstone in a similar setting in silver. I love it!

jofits: I have something similar, but in silver with step cut rock crystal.. (wow, my hands look terrible on the photo)
Your ring is beautiful! Have you already chosen a wedding band?

zamorski: sounds like we have similar tastes in rings 😀 No I have not chosen a wedding band yet, have you? No idea what I will go for. Was toying with idea of just having the one ring… but.. also. want. more.

I’m from the UK and I have a 0.75ct three stone ring with an all-metal carved band (top 2 rings in this picture – the others are DH’s ring and my CZ stand in I wore when we first got engaged). Most people I know have simple solitaires, three stone rings or coloured gemstones in a diamond halo (in the UK there seems to be much less of a sense that ‘engagement ring = diamond’ and gemstone rings are very popular). Engagement rings tend to be smaller than the ones I see on the bee, but you do see big stones in London. Diamond wedding rings are also fast gaining in popularity.
