I felt it was important to post my experience so far with Eva’s Bridal of Orland Park, IL so other brides hopefully they don’t have the same experience.
In May 2011 I went into Eva’s Bridal in Orland Park, IL and ordered a Maggie Sottero Monalisa Royale bridal gown. Linda an Eva’s sales representative measured me and decided I needed a size 6 petite. I gave them 75% of the balance of the dress which is $735.00 as the deposit to order the dress and they stated the dress would be in by October 2011. In October 2011, I contacted Eva’s Bridal and spoke with Hala the owner and asked if my dress had came in yet and she said no and it would be in by November 2011. I contacted them again in November 2011 and again Hala stated the dress was still not in and blamed the dress manufacture and said it was their fault it was not in yet. Hala then stated she promised it would be in by January 1, 2012 and not to worry. I contacted her again on January 1, 2012 and it still hadn’t come in. She then said she didn’t understand what was taking so long because the manufacture said it had been shipped. She then promised me again it would be in by January 26, 2012 and no later. I called her again on January 26, 2012 and she said it had came in and I set up a date to try on the dress in February 2012. When I went in to try on the dress the bridal consultant Laura told me they didn’t have the ball gown slip in but to make another appointment in a few weeks to try it on again. When I came back a few weeks later on March 10, 2012, I again met with Laura and tried on the gown with the ball gown slip and it was a few inches to short. Laura brought in an alterations lady whom looked at the dress and said she couldn’t make it long enough even if she took out the hem. I finally then met with Hala who stated she didn’t understand why they ordered a petite and asked why I wanted that. I stated to her that I simply let Linda measure me and trusted she would have the proper knowledge and experience to order the correct size/length. Hala then stated she would talk to the company on March 12, 2012 about trying to fix this and would let me know that day. I never heard from Hala on March 12, 2012 so I called Eva’s Bridal on March 13, 2012 and spoke with a receptionist who stated Hala was waiting on a callback from the company and she would call me back by 1 pm on March 14, 2012. I received a call from Hala later in the evening on March 13, 2012 stating the company hoped to have the gown in by June 2012. I explained to Hala my concern that the dress would not be in on time for my wedding August 17, 2012 because of how long it took the first time to come in or that the dress would not be correct again and I wouldn’t have a wedding gown. I simply asked Hala if I could have my money back so I could purchase the dress from somewhere else and she told me to come in the following day March 14, 2012 and met with her. I went into the Eva’s on March 14, 2012 and met with Hala who asked me to just wait until June 2012 or to try on the dress again and have the alterations lady come in again and see if she could take the hem out. I told Hala I do not feel comfortable waiting again till June 2012 and I would just like my money back and she stated I have a legally binding contract and that she would not give me my money back and I would have to take her to court.
I hope noone else has to go through this. Planning a wedding is stressful enough and shouldn’t have to deal with unprofessional, won’t take responsibility for their mess ups and plain rude people of Eva’s Bridal Orland Park, IL.
