You’re not going to believe this one! I wanted to save some money on my invites, so I decided to buy some thrifty, but still super cute, ones from Minted. I finally chose “the one”, got the okay from Mr. Ranchwed and placed by order. Here is the one we chose:
I was so excited when they arrived! They were perfect! The website warned me, additional postage would be required. I thought I did my research right. I ordered Forever and 20 cent stamps, both with lovely flowers on them. Thank God, I stopped in the post office to make sure my postage/measurements were right, because, as you can probably imagine, they were not. My invites were too big for the postage/stamps I had put on them. Here is how far my measurement was off:
So I had to pay for additional postage…but what was worse, though really kind of funny, is that they only had George Washington stamps! LOL! Yup! Here it is:
Mr. Washington is really not seeing the humor in this;0) Haha! I’m still laughing about it… while secretly grinding my teeth:0P Of course I could have waited a couple extra days to mail them out, so I could order cute 20 cent stamps, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do that. So now it will be one of those funny wedding planning stories that I have to share:) Hope you enjoyed!

Haha, this really made me chuckle. I love it. I also LOVE your invites!

lmao sorry about the added cost, but the George Washington stamp is totally awesome!!

I would love to know how many guests will notice that? George Washington maybe loves the flowers so he’s making sure they get delivered safely to their destinations? How much id the LOVE stamps cost? The whole invite seems expensive now…. Hope your guests appreciate them!

I love that you guys got a kick out of this one as much as I did:)
@happyface: The Love stamps are “Forever Stamps”, so they were like 45cents maybe. Yea, invites ended up being a bit more expensive than I planned. Another one to add to the list of unexpected expenses…oh well:oP

Mine ended up being $1.10 each 🙁
I think I ended up getting stamps for $1.25 each cause the stamps were prettier.
Good thing we expected the unexpected extra costs!

- Wedding: March 2012 - Pelican Grand Beach Resort
My invitations were also just a fraction off from being 60someodd cents to mail. I took them in before I bought stamps though, so I just bought a bunch of wedding-pretty forever stamps and needed 2 per envelope (plus one on the inside).

Now I’m scared at how much my postage will cost. 🙁

LOVE your wedding invites. Those are super cute! I would totally die laughing if I got Washington in the mail, in a good way! 🙂
I actually spent less than I thought I would on postage. I had square invitations so I knew they would be more, came out to 65 cents a piece. They had very nice wedding cake stamps, only needed one. At first though the PO guy didn’t know they were for a wedding and handed me these weird dog stamps, I almost had a “Washington” on my hands. Hahaha.
