All well and good to discuss “traditional” vs “non-traditional” yadayadayada BUT BE AWARE that the “traditions” spoken of have most probably come from fairly recent bridal magazines and companies wanting to sell wedding gowns, and NOT from “tradition” in the most basic sense.
“Traditionally” women wore wedding gowns belonging to friends or close relatives, bought long dresses in white, wore “cocktail wear” , had dresses made by seamstresses or family members – a whole bunch of different and frequently unique choices, but not dictated to by what was appearing in magazines or advertising.
If you feel compelled to “follow RULES” you will be much more likely to miss out on something fabulous and saving money.
If you feel safer following the pack and choosing something that 50 or so other women may be wearing on the same day and paying too much for it, carry on and enjoy your decision.
Everyone is right!
