I have tried Vitex. It is supposed to thicken the lining of the uterus and for that I think it worked really well – I had the most crazy monthly floods. Unfortunately, later it was discovered that I have hydrosalpinx so it’s not surprising that I did not conceive. Women with endometriosis should be careful when using this potent herbal supplement.

I used vitex and it worked for me the first month. Previously I have gotten pregnant twice with clomid.

Also, I’m not sure about what pp said about endometriosis, I have stage 4 endo (although I have had a lap to clear it out before the first of my pregnancies).

I used vitex for 4-5 cycles and nothing. I was trying to boost ovulation to help a short luteal phase (but it now turns out I’m hypothyroid and that’s likely (hopefully?) the cause of my luteal progesterone issues). I just stopped using it after listening to an episode of the “beat infertility” podcast where the RE being interviewed said that she sees a lot of patients who have used vitex come in and have their ovaries covered in cysts, and needing to take a couple months off to let everything calm down. Not sure how much they were using obviously but it made me leery.

Abut 2 yrs ago when I was actively ttc I tried evening primrose oil. The reason I took it was to help increase cm. Figured it couldn’t hurt… It delayed my period for a week!! Which in turn meant that it had delayed my ovulation for a week. My cycles had been like clockwork up until then. So needless to say after trying it that one month I never touched it agsin. After it happened to me, I decided to Google to find out if it had the same effect on other women and sure enough – tons of instances popped up where women were complaining about the same thing happening to them.

LAZB:  Since endometriosis tissue is similar to uterine lining, Vitex can aggaravate the condition by making lesions bigger. And no endo is equal – there are women with stage 2 that cannot conceive naturally and there are women with stage 4 that have 2-3 healthy pregnancies. Not all are the same.

mcmillan0529:  What you said about cysts is scary and def. shows how powerful this herb is.

I am sure though there are many women with positive experiences and my sister is one of them. She succesfully got her periods back when coming off from hormonal BC.

The month I started using EPO, I got my BFP (which ended up being a chemical), but I use it to help increase my CM, and it definitely does that. Also, I ovulated when I normally do that cycle–so no delays for me.

I used EPO for my last two cycles (I just got a BFP last week) and absolutely saw a huge CM increase. I added in acupuncture this last cycle and I think that is REALLY what made a difference for us!

Another thign to look into is acutal supplements rather than herbs such as melatonin and myo-inositol.

bloomingflower:  I started taking Vitex to lengthen my LP, I don’t think it helped at all. I took it for 5 months, Sept 2015-Jan 2016. I was also taking Vitamin B6 and B complex. None of them helped me.

I bought both in the last couple of monthes of TTC, and I honestly can’t say if they made a difference or not. I was more apt to take the Evening Primrose than the Vitex, as I never took as many pills as it said you should. I maybe took 1 a day.

But, I did start using Robitussin starting the day after AF was done until I knew I had O’s to increase my EWCM. And, it did that.

Whatever I did the last month of TTC worked, cos we got pregnant. We also had been using PreSeed.
