It’s a DB Vera Wang that no one bothered to tell anyone (even the store employees) was discontinued until I tried it on and fell in love and had my credit card out to pay for it.  The sample size was far too big to be taken in (and it was damaged a bit beyond repair anyway).  I love my dress, but it still makes me sad to have missed out on this one, and it was only available for like eight months!

@pinkfrog, Bummer, you look great in that dress!

I fell for a dress, but it must be really unqiue becuase I can barely find it anywhere. It’s from the Eugenia 2009 collection, and I’m sure it’s been discontinued. Still love it though.

Even tho some dresses may be discontinued, its still possible to find them in some places. You may luck into someone who still has the sample dress, but it takes some work to track them down. Even preowned dresses may be available, tho a bit riskier since most times you’d have to buy it without trying it on.

@SoCoBlue: yup. Went to a smaller bridal store that I had called first to see if they had larger sample sizes, since I’m a size 18. Over the phone I was told ‘sure’ they had larger sizes, but when I visited the store I think she pulled anything she had (which was about 5 dresses). Fell in love with Alfred Angelo #1634, which was long discontinued. Still mad that she knowingly put me in a discontinued dress that was 2 sizes too small, so I couldn’t even have bought the sample.

This is my dream dress, Freya by Elie Saab.  It is from his collection for Pronovias that is about 3 years old now, so I doubt I’ll be able to find it.  I’ve definitely been keeping an eye out online, and even called the flagship, but to no avail.

@Crabbabs:  Apparently we are both date and dream dress style twins lol

My dress was discontinued and I did find a sample to buy (though the downside to this is that it needed some repair work done). If you really love the dress, don’t give up–look around a bit.

@sarahbabs: I know! I love your dress too. The straps are so similar. I really want a dress with straps that are actually designed for the dress, not just added on as an afterthought.

@SoCoBlue: Well, it was actually the owner of the shop that put me in the discontinued dress. I settled on Alfred Angelo #753.

Keep looking, you’ll find a dress. It looks like you like the blush/pink color for your wedding dress, have you looked at Maggie’s Victoriana?

It would have been completely out of my budget but I loved Amy Michelson’s Grace
