@ananeele:  Gosh, I hope that they just are delayed and get it together and call you back!  Good Luck!

Wow what field do you work in? That is a lot of interviewing!

They may be taking some time to go over a few things, I would think they would let you know regardless, but I have seen many companies with no class in regards to communication.

Unfortuantely, yes – I have had it happen before (getting to the final round and then all communication stops).  But that is certainly NOT the norm.  I’m sure they are just taking longer than anticipated to decide.

Good luck!

That sounds odd… I don’t think they would make you come down to tell you, you didn’t get the job,  but I have never heard of “HR has feedback”.  hmmm.  hopefully there isn’t another round of interviews!

Maybe they have another position in mind for you which is why they need to talk to you? What kind of company is it?

Oh bummer, sorry!  Did they say why they didn’t choose you?  I’d maybe tell them I understood it’s a difficult decision, that I was still very interested in the position if they decide to reconsider me, and I would be happy to provide references, samples of my work, etc.

And yes, this happened to me once though it’s rare at that stage.

@ananeele:  I’ve never heard of an interview process that was that intense before.  And making you come in to tell you you didn’t get the job?  I guess some people would appreciate that, I would have rather not had to go down there.  Sorry you didn’t get it!

Review them on glassdoor so at least the next person knows what they’re getting themselves in for.

On the flip side, if the interviews were that painful, I always think working there must be more painful than I’d expect.  I’ve had some brutal and long days of interviews and it always sours me on the company when they don’t think about minor things liks “gosh, maybe she’d like to eat lunch today.”  No, I’m ok interviewing from 9AM-4PM with no breaks at all, including restroom…  Hard to stay pepped up throughout it all and hope your stomach doesn’t grumble.

Don’t take it personal! Unfortunately, this has happened to me too (it took a 4 month stretch of endless interviews for the national home office of a name-withheld large nonprofit and then them telling me that they decided to go with someone else) and I get emails all the time that while people are impressed with my resume’/they know that I’ll get a great position with another org, that they can’t offer me the position. I never understand it, especially after going for a number of interviews. What I think it is that people who are postdoc (i’m 2 years into my doctoral program) are willing to accept a lower salary just to gain employment. IDK how the job market is by you, but it stinks by us!

@ananeele:  wow! i cant believe they went through all that only to not hire… that seems like quite an investment of time and money… to then not hire?

i interviewed for a company a month ago. i thought it had gone well too and in the end they hired an internal candidate. heartbreaking!
