I do this every now and then to make sure nothing too personal is being broadcast around the world without my knowledge. I actually stumbled on a geneology tree for my mom’s side of the family a few years ago that was dated back to the 19th century…pretty cool IMO!
Any bees find anything interesting?

I’ve googled my name a few times, and I come up all over the place – but it’s because of my work. I also sang for one of our games, so fanboys posted that stuff all over the internet on different forums, download places, etc. I’ll admit – it’s really weird, haha.
No cool geneology stuff though 🙁

I’ve done it, but honestly my name is so common that all I ever find is other people. I have a common first, middle, and last name.

I’ve done it! You have to put it in quotes. Otherwise, if your name is Jane Doe, you’ll get results for all the Janes and all the Does (and likely some information on Bambi in this case).

I do all the time. Its how I found out the video I made for my internship that I thought they decided not to post actually got posted months after my internship was over. I also google it to make sure items in my professional portfolio show up when you search my name. I like to think future employers will google me and see it and then hire me.

Yep! I google my name regularly just to see what comes up and to ensure nothing too private is out there. I don’t post anything online that is inappropriate but I just want to ensure my life isn’t too visible. The top results for my name are:
My Facebook Profile (where my privacy settings are locked down)
My LinkedIn Profile (kinda boring…lol)
My Twitter Account (which I had to use for a class but made like two tweets)
My Pinterest Profile (oh holy heck, now this is where people could find out a lot about me, or at least what I want to eat, what I want to wear, how I want to do my hair, the wedding dresses I love, haha!)
MyLife (I don’t belong to that site but it seems to come up for lots of people…)
I think I’ll make a spin-off – Have you ever done a Google Image Search on your name?

I do it about once a year for fun. My first name is not common at all, but I found out a few years ago that I share the name of a character from a book series that is apparently very popular.

Yeah…I do it every once in a while. There is a younger girl with my name and her MySpace page comes up. Her username or whatever is “Smelly Pirate Hooker.” Freaking awesome.

Not much comes up for my married name, but I get a ton of stuff under my maiden. I was pretty involved in some clubs and competitions during college.
@MissPine: I get a couple! A few from awards I got but mostly pictures of my family for media work they’ve done.

A model, an escort, and a character from a popular TV show a few years ago.
ETA: I like to tell people I have a wikipedia page 🙂 it’s from the show character though 🙁

I googled my name. Apparently I am the only person in the world with that name. I also found a high school picture of my grandma after some searching around.

I’m the only one with my full name and so I get a bunch of annoying stuff I signed up for when I was 17. It’s pretty embaressing.
