We’ve been instructed by DH’s GP to go for EOD in our FW, rather than ED, due to hubs low sperm numbers. I’m trying to figure out the best timing to give his boys the best chance possible.
Do you think we should aim for my predicted O date, which would then be O-4, O-2 & O? (which of course is not a guaranteed O date). Or start as soon as we get a +OPK, or start 12 hours after a +opk and BD every 48 hours ?
We haven’t had a chance to ask our specialist details regarding this schedule, so I’m starting here. All opinions are welcome.

Odds of conception are low on the day of ovulation compared to the 3 prior; the day you get a positive OPK, I’d BD that day (either immediately or within 12 hours). Maybe again the day after ovulation.
With a low sperm count, you wanna time things to be *close* to O, so I think getting it in the day before O would work well.
We strongly suspect we have low sperm count going on for us too, and it’s been a struggle trying to orchestrate when — lol

@MrsBananas: with the sperm meets egg plan your supposed to bd every other day starting with cd8 until a positive opk then 3 days in a row. After the third day skip a day and bd once more.

we tried this last cycle. we started 2 days after AF ended. we BD’ed about 6 or 7 times in the cycle.
i would say the closer to O the better, then you know exactly when it hit it. do -3, -1,

@MrsBananas: I think your plan to do O-4, O-2, O, and the day after your predicted O is a good one. Once you see the surge on the OPK it may be too late so you definitely want to BD before then.

@EverAfterBegins: Thanks but I’m not sure the SMEP is a good idea when we’re dealing with MFI. We need the 48 hours break to help his swimmers out.
@ajillity81: What troopers you guys are! I really hope it works out for you. Last cycle before finding out about DH’s mfi we hit 4 days in a row (-3,-2-1 & 0). That was tiring and honestly I’m a little bit relieved to only have to do it EOD now.
@beachbride1216: Thanks for your input about the opk. We usually start a few days before the first positive anyways. I just want to give his best boys the closest to the egg chance, if that makes sense, lol.

I think 0-3,0-1, then O+1. When we got pregnant our BD timing was O-3, O-1, then O, but I think we were too late on day of ovulation. I think this gets you the closest to O day while still making sure you have some sperm there waiting. It’s easy to miss it day of O.

@MrsBananas: i should have mentioned that EOD didn’t work out for us last cycle. every cycle so far, i’ve come up with a different pattern. i told Darling Husband we are going try BDing in the AM this time. luckily when I want to falls on the weekend. then i told him if it doesn’t work, i’m out of ideas to try. i feel like we have tried every pattern we could.

Yeah…I’ve heard the theory too that sperm count tends to be higher in the am/early afternoon (though the science hasn’t *really* confirmed it yet), so maybe try BDing around those times, too. Every little bit counts…

@ajillity81: Aw, I’m sorry to hear that. I hope one of your patterns will work soon. We are also going to try to BD in the morning this cycle (yay for weekend O!) as I’ve heard that sperm levels might be higher earlier in the day.
