I think people default to he with dogs.  It used to bug me with my girl Berner too.  She looked so feminine to me, I couldn’t understand how people would be confused!

Awww, SHE’s cute! Haha.   This happens with our pet too, but I don’t mind.  If it bothers you a lot I guess you could try a purple leash?  Is that just as bad as pink for your hubby?

Aww she’s soo cute!

Everyone always messes up the gender of our cats, because they don’t have gender specific collars.  Our dog, however, has a pink collar and a pink leash.  Fiance initially felt silly walking her with the pink leash, but I think he’s used to it now 🙂

What about a girly collar?  You could still keep the black leash, but at least the collar would let people know she’s all girl!

I get that a lot which my puppy.  I used to have a black harness and leash for her, but when she outgrew it I purchased a blue harness with embroidered flowers on it (FI doesn’t oppose that harness as much as a pink one!), and everyone still calls her “he.”

I usually just end up saying.  “Her name is Eva.  She’s a Boston Terrier.”  People usually catch on pretty quickly.

People with just default to she and the only way I see around it is a pink collar. Even a red or purple collar could be a boy!

But please don’t let it bother you – just say she in your response and let it roll off your back!

@justlikeheaven: My one cat is a girl, but my other male cat is always getting called “she”!
