There’s no rule that says you have to do an edible favor.  I think it’s just that most people fine it more practicle that the kitchy trinket that usually goes in the trash or tucked away in a drawer.

I recently used a heart shaped cookie cutter I received as a favor for a wedding almost 10 years ago – πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚  it came on cute card stock with a cookie recipe! πŸ™‚

Do what feels right to you… AND – keep in mind, favors are optional!

I think I would like to edit my vote to say that I would like to recieve “Useable” favors. (No offence to some, but I really have no use for a bottle opener with your wedding date on it, as we don’t drink) You can’t please everyone, chocolates are easy becuase I like having some in my purse for later if I am not going to eat it right then. Potted plants are cute and adorable but some don’t have the ability to grow them. Herb seeds, again, love, again, Darling Husband would kill them. A jar of homemade jam, heck yes!

I don’t think there is a way to please everyone with a favor, its just supposed to be a nice way to say thank you.

I would rather receive an edible favour than something I’d throw away. Once I got two plastic pears that said Perfect Pear on them. They were so pointless, just two plastic pears haha. We’re thinking of doing a loose leaf tea bar, then people can kind of make up their own favours and it will last a long time. We’re also planning on rock candy for the people who don’t want to take some tea (:

I would totally go for a useful non-edible favour like a cookie cutter!

@MrsRugbee:  I’m one of those people who pretty much only likes edible favors, so your question has me wondering, what kind of favors do you like receiving at weddings?

I like them because you can take them home.  =)

I have thrown away every single favor I have ever gotten at a wedding, except candy πŸ™‚

I love edible favors, or donations to a charity.

I voted yes, but there are some non-edible favors I would just as happy with. I just don’t want crap (sorry brides who’s weddings I attended) I won’t use again. I will never listen to a CD with a couple’s favorite love songs!

it depends on what the edible favor is. Just choose a favor that is a good reflection of you. we had jordan almonds as favors but we also gave out DIY fans that I made so we got to do both edible and non edible favors

I think they are fun. Most people don’t want a shot glass or some other personalized item from someone else’s wedding. We are doing a candy bar and potted succulents. All of our guests are local and succulents are nearly impossible to kill.I love the jam idea too.

I prefer edible favors, because I’ll actually use them (aka eat them). It seems like most non-edible favors are junk. I’m not trying to be offensive, but honestly nobody wants a little trinket with a monogram on it.
