I dated my husband for 7 years before he proposed. We started dating at 18 and wanted to finish school and get started in our careers before getting married. We got engaged at 25 and married at 26.

I saw a lot of couples get engaged/married before us and I’d be lying if I said I never got jealous and wished it was us. But looking back I am SO glad we waited until it was the right time for us. The timing felt so perfect and I don’t regret waiting at all.

Being married is awesome and I love it, but you know what? So was dating. Dating was a blast and no matter when we got married we were still in love and living our life together. And I’m glad I was able to enjoy those years rather than focusing too much on the future and missing out on the now.

I feel you. 8 yrs here. We are getting eng soon but yeah meanwhile younger people with shorter relationships did before us and it indeed I felt weird. But I started feeling this way only after we had decided to get engaged and the waiting had started. It worths waiting though. When the right time comes you will feel sooo ready and confident.

Not that you wish anything bad on the other couples, but all the people I knew that got married younger than you are now divorced now that we are older. Like actually all of them.
