Destination weddings are great if you have a lot of wealthy friends and family who are happy to travel. If you don’t then they’re a real pain in the ass. I love Sorrento, but if I’m going there I’m going with my own itinerary, not the bride’s.
OP, if you want Sorrento, elope or go on a honeymoon.

I think you have made the right choice not to go to Italy for your wedding.
Can you get married in a restaurant? That is what my uncle did and it was really sweet. It was 15ish people and a priest. After the little wedding they all had dinner in a private room.

There’s bound to be a lovely tiny venue in Ireland you can pick and you can invite who you want it doesn’t just have to be 100 people it can be ten.
Then why don’t you get a blessing in the cloisters in Sorrento while on honeymoon?

harrietemily : I haven’t researched any of these inregards to weddings and cost but what about the cloisters at Birr Castle (Hornbeam I think) or Muckross abbey. Glouster Cathedral also has a beautiful cloisters.
