- Wedding: October 2012
Bees, I just came back from a weekend of wedding fun! A friend of mine got married. And the wedding was amazing! Though it didnt start that way. The morning of the wedding, we had a huge storm come up on us. Rain, thunder, lightening, and huge gusts of wind. Anyway, I was in charge of picking up the flowers for the church. Boy was that trip insane. First the ramp to the exit I needed was closed, which I wasnt told about, luckily my brother called me and the groom was with me, so he was able to give me some quick directions. FOund the flower shop just fine. Now when we were driving down to the shop we saw a semi truck turned over becuase of the wind, on the other side of the freeway heading north. Behind it the traffic was really backed up. So we were headed back up and got stuck in that mess.
Then got to the church and found out that because of the storm the power was out in the church and the hall! At that time, it was three and a half hours before the wedding. No way was I gonna tell the bride! At least not yet. Electricity comes on pretty fast most times. U see the groom knew already and so did the Maid/Matron of Honor and a couple other people. So they were handling it….now back to the church. As we were leaving to go back to the hotel I backed up in the empty parking lot and slammed into something! WHAT THE?!?! Turns out I backed up into the only light pole in the whole lot! I still cant beleive I did that. Luckily my car took it well and the light pole is cement on the bottom so it was okay. What was really embarassing was that one of the pastors saw it, after he saw that we were fine, he kind of chuckled. I think because only moments before he told us to be safe. lol….so embarassing!!!!
Anyway, we got back to the hotel and was in the brides room about to get our hair done when her Maid/Matron of Honor called her and told her. Of course she was upset! But the Maid/Matron of Honor said shes handling it, and she will start looking around at other places in case the electricity doesnt come on in time. Of course the rest of us was consoling the bride and reminding her that everything will be fine.
Well, it turns out that the wind was so strong that it knocked down trees which knocked down countless powerlines in the area. I felt so bad for the bride!!! She cried. I felt so bad! So as we all continued to get ready, the Maid/Matron of Honor was searching the area for a hall. Well it turns out that everything came together. The lights came on for the ceremony. A new hall was found and announced. And the hall was decorated in 2 hours while the pics were being taken!! And it was so beautiful! I have included a couple pics of the decorated hall. Can u beleive what they accomplished in 2 hours?!?! Amazing.
So the point of all this? That everything can u go wrong, but in the end no matter what your wedding will be beautiful! The cake was crooked because of the sudden move and no ac at the old hall, but it was STILL a beautiful cake.
In the end everything works out and u are married to your best friend. 🙂
