If you really love these particular dresses, call around to stores in the area that carry Mikaella and Paloma Blanca (official retailers are listed on the Mikaella and Paloma Blanca websites) First, many of them CAN still order these dresses, even if there is not one physically in the store, just ask. Second, you may be lucky enough to find a sample of one of them for sale, since the dresses are from an older season and most stores will be phasing them out. This could save you $500-$1000! If you are lucky enough to be smaller than a size 8 or 10 (usual sample sizes), you can buy the sample dress and then have it altered down to your size, removing any signs of wear and tear that may be near the zipper.
I know all of this because that is exactly what I did, with this exact dress! (1209) I was like you- prefer full pickups and fell in love with dress #1209, but couldnt find it at any local store. Then I found it for sale as a sample, size 10, from a MA store for $800- discounted from retail price range of $1400-$1800! It was mailed to me, it is in great like-new condition, and I was able to alter it to my size (between 6 and 8) for under $200. I am very happy to have gotten the dress of my dreams, and at a discount too!
Also, since I know that sample dresses aren’t for everyone (and maybe you couldn’t find one in great condition anyway), the store I bought it from can order a new Mikaella 1209 for around $1400. It’s named Allure Boutique, located in Westwood MA, and their phone number is 781-329-6300. To my knowledge, most retailers that carry Mikaella can also order it new, because it isn’t discontinued yet.
You also might want to check out this store’s online sample sales, there are some other dresses with similar qualifications (but you can’t buy the 1209, I already did!) The website name sounds stupid, but it is a real bridal salon. Some you might like:
