I believe that tolerance works both ways. If I expect tolerance for my differences then I need to be tolerant of other people’s ignorant beliefs.

I didn’t read the link, but I do know the stores are closed on Sundays, so they are obviously run from a religious-based viewpoint.

@kariface:  Ugh…I heard about this a few months ago but they don’t have any locations in my state. If they did, I certainly wouldn’t shop there.

Eh, if I avoided every single store out there that made a statement about something I didn’t agree with or believe in, I’d literally have no where to shop.  I’d have to grow my own garden, make my own thread to sew my own clothes, and grow my own lumber to build my own house…nothing I have time or desire to do. lol

I spend my money at places that offer me the items I need and give me great customer service. I can usually set the rest aside.

Okay, except Tom Cruise. I really cant watch any of his movies without thinking about what a weird little jerk he seems to be.

Ugh.  Michael’s is better, anyway.

Our Michaels is about half the size of HB but we have Michaels all over. Our HL just opened this year and I have no idea where there’s another one.

I find Michaels is also better if it has what I need.

1- they’re closed on Sundays for religious reasons

2- they play Christian music in the store constantly

Im hardly surprised and it doesn’t even seem newsworthy to me. I like HL, the stores are always clean, friendly service, easy return policy lol and they have a great selection.

@JsDragonfly:  I’m sure it would border on impossible to boycott every place that didn’t line up with your beliefs and I’m sure there are places out there that I shop that hold ideas I would disagree with. I don’t see any challenge in avoiding a place that takes an outward stance the way that they do. This isn’t a criticism of you, just an observation.

@elysion:  I’ve been looking around and I just found some AWESOME  yarn stores (I crochet) in my area that are independently owned and their inventory is huge! I’m excited lol 🙂

Coming from the homestate of HL, our Michaels stores have better product, better selection, and much nicer people.

And dont feel like my soul has been coated in a sticky black sludge of psudeo morality that those stores seem to be built on.
