Hi Bees! I have been lurking aroudn these boards for over 6 months and finally got engaged last week so can start posting! The ring board has been my go to place on WB; I love looking at all your awesome rings.
My Fiance proposed with his grandma’s original e-ring from the 1940s. Here is a picutre of it on my hand right after we got engaged (it was on a hike) –
I am having it reset to go EW (horrizontal) and with a halo. We are going to the jeweler this weekend! So excited.
Do any of you bees have EW Marquise settings? Ive never seen one on here before!
I think I want to somehow round the corners a bit so its not super pointy. I like this ring a lot but dont like the heavy filagree (i think thats what it is called) work on the sides.
Any ideas, comments or suggestions?? Thanks!

I know this is SUPER old and I have NOTHING helpful to say, but… I thought you were saying “ewww, marquise rings!” and I was all “aww sad.”
For the record, what does EW stand for?

Of course go with what you want because its your ring… but why do you want it reset? I think its absolutely beautiful, high fashion, classic, unique, and perfect. I think you should at least leave the diamone set the way it is and add things if you really think they’re necessary… but like i said, its your ring

@Mrs. Puffin: East-west. Like, it’s set horizontally rather than NS, north-south/vertical.

@patco:I just saw this thread and was wondering what the outcome was of getting your ring re-set?
We got engaged in January and my Fiance gave me an EW Marquise ring. He asked my father for my mom’s diamond (she passed away several years ago) knowing how much it would mean to me, and he totally took my by surprise doing this….working with the jeweler they designed this beauty! He said it was quite the process, and he also had to go to several jewelers before he found one willing to go EW with the diamond.
They are very unique and I get stopped all the time by people saying they have never seen a ring set like this and how much they love it. Can’t wait to hear how your ring turned out!

Oooooo I love this style e ring! I think it’s so classic and stylish. It holds so much elegance, Catherine Zeta-Jones has a beautiful ring of the same style. Im in love…

I love this EW setting! Yay for wanting to do something a little different if it fits your style 🙂 I have a princess-cut diamond set north-south and people always comment on its uniqueness.
