Hi friends. I’ve been TTC since August (on my 5th cycle now). I’d been temping and off BC (but using condoms) for ~a year before TTC, so I thought I knew exactly when I ovulated. My cycles are very regular (usually 26-28 days, shortest in my year and half off BC has been 25 and longest 29), and I’d pretty much always get a temp rise between CD15-CD18, with ~11-12 days LP. Or so I thought.
But, like all good TTCers, I’ve read Taking Charge of Your Fertility, and since beginning TTC I’ve been more aware of my CM. I typically get EWCM around CD8-9, for one day only. But until this month I’ve been mostly ignoring it because I felt like that was way too early given when I know my temps rise. Now that I’ve been TTC for a while to no avail, though, I’m wondering if it’s possible that I actually ovulate much earlier than my temps would indicate? I saw a study mentioned on the Ava site (https://www.avawomen.com/avaworld/problems-with-bbt-ovulation/; the study referenced is https://obgyn.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/j.1471-0528.2001.00194.x) where for most women it actually takes 2+ days for temps to rise after ovulation. But could it take a week? Anyone have experience with this?
For those wondering, no I haven’t used OPKs yet… I will definitely do that next cycle assuming I don’t get a bfp this month!

I usually ovulate around CD 15 but start getting EWCM around day 11 or 12. I think it’s just your body gearing up and giving you your best chances throughout the fertile window (not necessarily only on ovulation day).

I used Ava and my temps always rose within 2 days. Fertility friend has a lot of good info on different patterns.

Hmm. My EWCM always lasts right up to my temp shift. It seems like a whole week before your sustained shift wouldn’t be right… I do think OPKs will be quickly helpful for sure in this case! Good luck!

It does seem weird, I agree! Will have to see if the OPKs reveal anything.
Interesting — do you continue to get EWCM until temp rise or is it only on CD11-12? I seem to only be getting it for a day and quite early in my cycle.
Interesting, thank you! I should clarify I don’t use Ava (I use FF) but just happened to find that article when I was googling about this issue.
Thanks, bees! I will just have to wait and see I guess, and try the OPKs next cycle. Was just wondering if this might explain no bfp yet, though I know 5 cycles isn’t too long to be trying yet.

can you post a photo of some of your charts? A visual might be more helpful to see how your temps correlate with cm

I usually get it until ovulation and then it goes away. I don’t temp anymore (it caused a lot of anxiety), but it usually lasts until my positive OPK.
