This is only our 2nd cycle TTC, so I’m definitely still trying to learn my body. I’m sort of trying to discern the apparent? discrepancy between EWCM and OPKs, at least in my case. Last month, I had three days of EWCM on CDs 12-14, tested + on an OPK *very* late on CD 14 (around 10 p.m.), and then my CM was completely no longer EW by about 11 a.m. on CD 15. I wasn’t temping so I’m not *certain* I’d O’ed, but anyway.
I know that OPKs are supposed to tell you that your O is coming within 12-36 hours of a + OPK, right? So in my case (again, just one cycle so far), O would appear to have happened very quickly after the + OPK. But in the SMEP, I would totally strike out because it says to have sex the day of your +OPK plus the 2 days after. In my case, that wouldn’t work because my EWCM was gone within hours of the + OPK. Correct?
Anyone else have this discrepency?
FYI, I’m on CD 12 right now, have had EWCM days 11-12 but negative OPKs so far. We’re just BDing anyway since I have EWCM, it’s just curious to me.

I would temp the next cycle just to see how you O in relation to the opks. I often O the same day as my +opk. It’s always a quick turnaround for me. I imagine it varies person to person!

What time did you last test on CD 13? Or earlier 14? If you only did it once a day you might have missed the beginning of the surge and caught it at the end. I’ve had that happen before that I caught it at the end and figured I O’d around 12 hours later so not a lot of notice. (I can tell by the O pains, change in CM and cervix positioning). Temping does give you a good indication of when O happens due to the temp rise.. If you want to keep using OPK’s when you are getting close test twice a day.

Thanks! Good to know. I am temping this cycle but I was lazy and started late (CD 9… oh well).

Thanks! I was testing more than once a day (based on good advice I probably read on here :)). On CDs 13 & 14, I tested both at noon and around 6 pm, but on CD 14 I was convinced it was going to be soon (O pains), so I took a *third* test that night at 10:30 and that’s when I got the +. Also, I have started temping for this cycle so I will (hopefully) get a better indication this cycle.

I’m in a simlar boat this month — EWCM for the last 4 days (super early at CD 7-11) but no positive OPK (which I just started yesterday based on the recommendation of my kit). Last month I got a definitely positive OPK on CD15 but don’t remember having EWCM for so many days prior (granted I was new to all this so wasn’t checking every day nor did I quite understand what I was checking yet). So I’m so confused what is going on. We’ve been BDing just in case because of the EWCM but, like, is my body just gearing up super early? Or did it already happen super early and I missed it? Or is my body just playing tricks on me and I’m not going to ovulate at all this month? It’s so tough when you’re new to charting and don’t have a whole lot of historical data yet to go off of.
