My FI is still very close with his ex’s father and step-mother. They are both invited to our wedding and he woud like them to be part of the bridal party. During anouncements, introductions, and listed on the programs, does anyone have any suggestions on how we could phrase these things?
For example- “now introducing mr and mrs x…” im at a loss here.
Thanks so much hive!!

Part of the bridal party?? How?
Why would they be introduced at your wedding? Do they fulfill a role of parents that he doesn’t have?

I think it is wonderful that your FI is still close with his former in-laws and that he wants them to be present at, and they are eager to attend, your wedding. After all, they are not the ones who divorced each other.
However, if you both have living parents with whom you are close, it may be confusing and awkward to include your FI’s ex-wife’s parents in any type of prominent or parental role in your ceremony.

Ditto with Brielle. I am still close to my ex in-laws too, because they are my children’s grandparents, but they in no way deserved a place of honor at my second wedding.

My ex in-law are still very close to not only me but the rest of my family as well. My ex husband are my best friend and we keep in constant contact.
my bf and soon to be fiancé thought it was strange before since he has never encounter that before in his life.
however, now when I been with him for a couple of years he is even close to my ex and my ex in-law as well.
story behind it is that my mother passed away during the time of our marriage and my ex in-law made a promise to her to always be there for me and they have honor that promise no matter what.
For me, I would want them to be at my wedding.

Thank you all so much! Its so great to have the objective opinions and honestly the hive has. Both his parents are living, therefore we agree it may be awkward. We will simply have them as guests, they know their benefit in his life.
@Whitelight: Thats very nice that your inlaw was there for you!
