My wedding band just came in. It was really important to my fiance that we have the SAME band. Same style, same thickness, etc. I… don’t love the combination, but I’m trying to keep an open mind. Any others have examples of something similar? I’m wondering if I don’t like it just because I’ve never seen it before.

I think it looks nice! I am biased though 🙂
My e-ring is 1.8mm and my wedding band is 4mm. Quite a difference but I absolutely love it. Give it some time!

llamajams : I think it will look better when you get your engagement ring sized down to match your wedding band! Beautiful set!

Maybe a curved setting would work better so that the engagement ring sits more snugly. Would your fiance be okay if your ring was curved to accommodate the e-ring?
If not, it still looks great!
ETA: Just curious, why is it so important to your fiance that the bands are the same?

xjsbellamias13 : I love your combination! Also the six prong/two tone setting is so lovely. I was definitely going to do something like that if I ended up with a white/yellow stone. Thanks for the photo!

hopefulb : So in love with your rosecut ring. I also like all the examples you shared; so cool that your band is ~150 years old! I initially ordered an antique ring as well that ended up being a tad too small.. plus my fiance let me know once it arrived he was very attached to the matching idea. Too hard to find matching antique bands!

newbeegirl : Good point. Supposedly my engagement ring is a 4.5, and my wedding band is a 4.25. However they seems so different on! I can’t even fit the wedding band over my right ring finger knuckle, while my engagement ring slides right on (?). Planning on getting the engagement ring sized soon.

cherry3b : I like the curved band idea! Or just wearing the wedding band on its own when I won’t wear my engagement ring (which I definitely will do since I backpack/hike/cycle etc).
I was so surprised when he said he wanted them to match! He’s not the most sentimental (he would be very happy eloping rather than having a wedding). But I ordered an antique band for myself off Etsy and he was really disappointed because he loved the idea of having a simple yellow gold matching set. So he compromised by getting a 3 mm band, and I compromised by getting this bezeled style rather than the classic dome or a square profile. Funny how weddings bring out things you never knew about the person – he also wanted an engagement ring, while the thought of getting him one had literally never crossed my mind as an option OR something he would want.

Yes, I went for a 3mm full eternity band and my ering is tapered. I forgot the measurements but I know it’s smaller than 3. I do not like the look of the trendy paper thin wedding bands.

llamajams : what about if you just had the prongs lifted so they sit snug? Probably wouldn’t be to expensive and I think would look better !

llamajams : Your set is stunning!
I love the look of thicker wedding bands but I have super small fingers. I can only fit my engagement ring and a 1mm band 🙁

I went with a thicker band as well. I like the juxtaposition and the added weight. I also like that I can wear my band by itself and still feel like it’s substantial.

My wedding band is much thicker than the engagement ring, but I had it cut to fit snugly around the stones. I wasn’t sure about the look at first, but now I’m used to it, I love it!

kayjee : Love your set! Would you mind giving the stats on your wedding band (ct, thickness, height) if you know them? We’re e-ring twins and I was thinking I wanted a larger band like yours!
