So we went to the excellence club riviera cancun, and let me just tell you…IT WAS AMAZING. We upgraded to the Excellence Club ocean view  and it was totally worht it. The private check-in, the 24/7 concierge, beach/pool side service ugh it was all just amazing and totally worth it. The best part by far was the private beach and pool area. We used it everyday and could totally tell a difference between the two. It mostly depends on what you are looking for, the non excellence club was more young and rowdy and the club side was more relaxed and quiet. By having the excellence club you were able to get the best of both worlds depending on what you were in the mood for at that time.

Let me know if you have anymore questions 🙂

ETA: Ill also add, that our trip would not have been the same if we did not have the ocean view room. We spent hours each day on our balony in the sun bed or in the tub (which also runs cold water so its like a mini pool with jets). We took a red eye home so our flight left late and bc we were excellence club members they moved us to a comlimentary “hospitality room” to stay in until we left for the airport and it was a garden view and I have to admit (and probably sound like a brat) it made me sad that people didnt get to experience the view that we had in our room. But again, to each their own to some people they might not even care about their view bc they wont spend much time in their room. I knew I wanted an ocean view so we could spend time on our balcony and I could hear the ocean!

We stayed at Excellance Playe Muejeres – It was nothing short of AMAZING.

Club – If you are not very social and plan on spending more time in your room – Do the club. The club has a private pool area with some extra food perks and I think better room service food selection. It also says that you have a designated waiter on the club area – You ALSO have this at the non-club pool although it may not say it on the website.

Non-Club – Do this if you like be around others! My husband and I loved hanging out at the big pool. They had music, activites, the “party bar” and we were able to meet other couples. We also did not spend a lot of time in our room so the extra perks of club room service were not that important to us.

All in all, I would probably do the non-club again! It was luxury through and through.

We stayed at Excellence Punta Cana a few years ago and it was amazing. We didnt have club access and stayed in the standard room but the room itself was fantastic. I would consider upgrading though to ocean view because our room didnt have much of a ‘garden view’. I would imagine the club access would have better views though. Make sure to make use of the room service which was always great quality and have breakfast in the lobster restaurant (we didnt realise we could until the last day and if we had known we would have eaten breakfast there everyday instead of the buffet!).

We just stayed at Excellnce Punta Cana for 2 weeks in April for our destination wedding and honeymoon. The excellence club was well worth it in my opinion. The wifi did not work in our room, so we frequented the club to use their wifi to check on pets and such back home. Also, the afternoon snacks and drinks are amazing in the club. Also, the private area of the beach is so so so much better for those in the club section. It made our honeymoon truly special. I would recommend it if you can swing it. Honestly, we had an ocean view room, and although there was minimal ocean view it is really just a pool view.

We stayed there in late 2010. We upgraded to the club with ocean view and it was well worth it in our opinion. Those blocks are right next to the beach and they are adults only so much more quiet and less hectic than the blocks with families. We went to have a super relaxing, lazy holiday and it’s exactly what we got. FWIW we’ve also stayed in Mexico and Aruba and the beach in punta cana is our favourite. It’s a dream!

We are staying at the new Excellence El Carmen in Punta Cana in November!  I’m so excited.  I’ve never been to an AI before.  Any tips are welcome.

My Fiance and I stayed there last August and had the best time! We upgraded to the Excellence Club and it was well worth it for the private beach access alone – that section of the beach is way more private and relaxing, and the staff is extra attentive to the Club members. You’re going to have an amazing trip!

DrCrazyCat:  I came in here just to see reviews on the place, but DH and I stayed at the Majestic Elegance for our honeymoon February 2015! It was our first experience at an AI resort and had a great time. Our view wasn’t that great (palm trees on the side where they are builing the new Majestic Mirage), but we’d know now what to get if we ever went back… and easily would.

Regardless… you’ll love Punta Cana! I don’t know if that resort is on Bavaro Beach, but that beach was so pretty. September should be a good time go. And, you can never go wrong my upgrading!
