FH finally agreed to Mexico for our honeymoon! I’m set on Excellence Playa Mujeres in Cancun area. I just have some questions for those of you who have been.
FH is very concerned about the safety, were there gates/guards, did you feel safe?
How was the food/drinks and selection?
Is the Excellence club worth it? I’m leaning towards just the standard suite.
Did you take any excursions? Any recommendation?
Did you use a travel agent or which website?
I’d love to hear your experiences, advice, and pics if you want to share. Thanks! 🙂

We went 2 years ago and are going back for our honeymoon. There are gates and its extremely safe and secluded.
The food was great. Definitely try the Lobster House. It sits over the swim up bar. We didn’t try it last time until our last day and it was our favorite after that! The drinks are excellent as well. The service is superb. Take single dollars with you so you can tip and they will remember your name and drink every time.
We didn’t do the Excellence Club and they still had quality liquors. I don’t think we are going to do it this time either. Our first time there we were upgraded to a rooftop suite and it was amazing.
we just booked our Honeymoon for September a couple weeks ago using Expedia. It was by far the cheapest and about $450 cheaper than using a travel agent. I would recommend doing that and then emailing the resort about 3-4 wks before your arrival to let them know its your honeymoon so you get the turndown service, etc.
last time we only went for 4 days and enjoyed the resort so much we didn’t do anything but lounge around. This time we’re going to take the ferry to Isla Mujeres for a day.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions 🙂

@MrsN14 We’re looking at the same resort, I think I might book it through Liberty Travel. Every review has been great and my Fiance is on the fence about going to Mexico since he’s never been and has same concerns as your but I’ve been to Riviera Maya before and it’s gorgeous! Good luck!
