- Wedding: June 2013
I have been on a few dress “adventures” and have more recently been looking into a custom dress for our 6.28.13 marriage celebration…. Well, with the date fast approaching and still no dress, I am starting to get NERVOUS!
I made an appointment at Bridal Garden in NYC tomorrow. They are a non-profit sample dress shop that donates their proceeds to NYC school children (I’m a NYC public school teacher, yay for charity that benefits kids!). They carry many designers, including Angel Sanchez, Anna Maier-Ulla Maija, Birnbaum & Bullock, Elizabeth Fillmore, Jane Wang, Judd Waddell, Junko Yoshioka, Lela Rose, Liancarlo, Modern Trousseau, Mon Cheri, Paloma Blanca, Rosa Clara, Vera Wang, Watters, & Winnie Couture. I’ve heard that it’s hit or miss there, as what they have in depends entirely on donations, but that plenty of people have found gorgeous gowns there at good prices, and that their collection turns over really quickly.
I’m excited to give it another go (though I swore that dress shopping wasn’t for me) and am hoping to find something fabulous… or at least affirm that I *do* indeed want to go custom.
I posted on another thread about wanting to stack wedding bands instead of buying a (late) engagement ring. I posted some “inspiration” pictures that I was thinking of having a friend who works as a jewelry designer imitate, but it turns out that the original rings are just $30 more total than the price my friend could give me, so I’m visiting one of the originial jewlers tomorrow as well.
Here are the photos!
The first ring is the ring I’m seeing tomorrow (it’s available in white gold in the store, I would have mine made in rose gold as pictured in the photo below).
This second ring is available on Etsy from Sundari Gems. I would order the 2mm ring (this one is 1.5mm).
And here are a couple of “mock up” photos my friend sent me to show me the designs. My wedding band (the middle picture) is a bit thinner than the one in the mockup (looks like 2mm), and the scalloped band she came up with is a little different than the original (I prefer the original, hence the visit tomorrow).
We may go with the diamond 1/2 eternity band first, and invest in the scalloped band later, but either way I am freaking.excited!!
Just looking for a couple of “yay for you, you go girl”s for the big day tomorrow. 🙂
