and it got me thinking. DH used to take this stuff (thankfully not anymore, but does take a different preworkout). He’s not a “bodybuilder” but does workout and lift nearly everyday and is in excellent physical shape (nom nom nom).
We’re planning on TTC soonish/maybe by the end of the year and wondered if anyone has any information on the effects of supplements and TTC – ie sperm count, potential birth defects, etc.
I’ve asked him anyway to take less or quit certain things a few months before we plan to TTC. Any thoughts?

What kind of supplements did he take and how long ago?

He takes branched chain amino acids, creatine, glutamine, protein shakes and multivitamins (I think that’s it)

@MrsTillerResq: Your best bet is to look at every single ingredient on his supplement and Google “that ingredient + birth defect” or “that ingredient + infertility.” My ex-DH wanted to take gingko biloba but I found that it was linked to infertility in men in several websites so I wouldn’t let him take it.
Also, be sure he doesn’t wear compression shorts when working out as that can decrease sperm count. Excessive intense exercise can decrease fertility in women but I’m not sure there has been any studies in men. Good luck.
