Okay Bees, I’m tired, my breasts hurt, and I have had no desire to workout (or move off the couch for any reason) for the past two days.
Do you fight through the feeling or give you a few days off when your time of the month is approaching?

I tend to go through it, but I think I’ve found that if I exercise the days leading up to it the pain isn’t then as bad during my period.

I try and fight through it, but man, it’s really hard at times! I am so fatigued during PMS. However, I think consistent exercising made this round not so bad.

I never have any real PMS symptoms, I don’t start to feel crappy until I actually start…so I have no problem exercising the days leading up to it. However, I almost never do on my first day. My flow is always the heaviest then and it’s the last thing I want to do. I have went for a jog when I have cramps though, and they have went away while exercising. Usually, by day 2 I can suck it up and at least climb on an elliptical though!

Man, I was really hoping you ladies would be like, psh, take the day off. I should have known better haha. Looks like I will be fighting my way to the gym at some point tonight. Maybe. If I can find the energy to shower first. Today seems to be my “Life Reset” day. Happens every once in a whilte- just need a day of nothing to recharge. Then I feel guilty for skipping the gym last night. Its a never ending cycle.

I should have gone with Boyfriend or Best Friend this weekend, but I felt like crap, so I took the time off. But other times I have gone through with it. So it really depends. More often than not, I sit my butt on the couch and watch reruns of TV shows. 😀

Ha! I am reading this in my pajamas on the couch- I totally skipped out on the gym tonight and wrote it off on PMS! Plus, I am so cranky and Mondays at the gym are always PACKED, so I think I will cry if I don’t find a parking spot/can’t get on the machine I want. Oh, and How I met your mother is on 🙂

Im killing time waiting for HIMYM by watching Buffy. Then I will shower, watch Gossip Girl, and…??? Fiance gets home around 10, so we will decide then if we are going to make it to the gym or not. It is open 24 hours and nights are usually dead, except for these annoying guys that show up at like 11 pm and insist on dropped every.single.weight.between.every.single.set. Oh, and our gym in on the ground floor of an apartment building. TOOLS.

It’s not even close to PMS time for me, yet I’m sitting on the couch trying to come up with “valid” excuses for not going to the gym. I’m not sure wanting a glass of wine right now counts.

I would love to sit here and say that I fight the feeling and work out anyways, but I honestly give myself time off. LOL

I don’t get bad PMS, but I do think that if you’re really not feeling well, it’s not a bad idea to give your body a rest. It sounds like you work out pretty much every day, and fully resting then pushing yourself to a new goal would probably be better than slogging through.
That said, I have a semi-physical addiction to the exercise endorphins and start to fade if I don’t make it to the gym by my usual time, so I usually do slog through… hit the elliptical (harder to fall off than the treadmill or stepmill!) and zone out. But if you’re a regular exerciser and really hurting (for whatever reason… sickness, PMS, cramps, injury), rest is generally a good idea.
