My wedding went over budget, but I also am a bit shocked at how much I spent on stuff that wasn’t technically part of the wedding budget, but that I’d never been doing if I wasn’t getting married.
I spent a lot on vanity that I NEVER do in “real life”: hair and nails, dept. store make-up, dermatologists.
I bought a bunch of clothes that I wouldn’t have even known existed just because I was spending so much time shopping.
I spent a fortune in downtown parking lots and dinners out w/ Darling Husband on all of these shopping trips.
And a whole lot more, probably, if I could even remember it all now.
Where do you blow money outside of your budget, or were you extra frugal to save up for the on-budget stuff.

I blew money on my budget on lots of little things: extra flowers here and there. crafts and extra ribbon, paper etc. Pens for the guest book, candy buffet baggies & scoops. Tips also! Gifts for attendants – woah. food and snacks wedding morning for everyone, mimosas, juice and back up gear like hairspray, bobby pins yada yadda etc.

I’ve already gone over and we aren’t even there yet. Things that caught up with me that I didn’t budget for were things like parking, gas, and weird craft stuff. I’ve spent more money on glue and paper than I ever could have imagined.

Attendant and parent gifts…OMG. There’s a serious bit of money that escaped my crack accounting skillz.

our 18k went to over 30k now. ridiculous
we had engagement pictures at disneyland so we had to pay for our ticket and photographers, of course parking, hotel, food, gas (live 3 hours away).
we’ve also been going down to the flower district every so often.. we’ve gone 3 times. again 3 hours away.
lots of trips to michaels and always come out with stuff.
cloooothes. spent $100s on engagement clothes! for our photo and video!
we thought we were gonna save money by going to disneyworld rather than italy… wrong!! we’re coming out even.

I included all the extra stuff that might not even make it into the budget as we were going along.
Looks like we spent only 71% of our budget (I have to check back in– we haven’t bought the flowers yet, so that was an estimate and I forgot how much the limo cost so I estimated that, too).
But yes, the budget is hilarious because there are all these little extra things like parking and coffee out and extra gas $. Crazy. But… if I wasn’t wedding shopping, I’d probably have bought *more* not less because I wouldn’t be saving for wedding specific stuff.

I keep catching myself not really “counting” things into the budget. Like…I bought yarn for little pom poms, an edge puncher for some cards…I’m basically nickel and diming myself and just not including it. The nickels and dimes will unfortunately add up!!!
