I’m trying to book my flight for our honeymoon to Jamaica in November. It seems like prices are really high right now… I’ve heard that fuel prices are going up and flight prices will get even higher. But I always worry that the price will go back down in a couple months and I’ll regret booking now.
Anyone have any experience with this? Are you finding your flights to the Caribbean expensive? What is a normal price?

i can’t really help with the Jamiaca but our flights to Europe were really expensive. I was monitoring them for a while but ended up biting the bullet when they dropped a couple of hundred bucks. They say typically you should aim to buy your flights around 3 months in advance, so if i were you i would sign myself up for some of those flight monitoring websites and monitor them for a while. You can also look at the history to check what previous Novemebers prices look like.
Check out farecompare, kayak and bing, those are the ones i use..

Totally in the same boat. We are about 6 months out, were thinking of Mexico and 2 months ago the flights were $200 less. I think this may impact where we decide to go. Like we originally thought Hawaii was too expensive and now Mexico is the same price so I’m going to wait it out then consider all options! However hotel deals are everywhere!

I can’t give any input on what a normal price is, but ditto on using sites kayak and bing. I use them all the time when I travel because it tells if prices are holding steady, or if they’re forecasted to drop. Although – it’s not always right – most of the time it is 😉

Thanks! For some reason the Fare Compare historical graph thing isn’t loading for me, so can’t use that 🙁
And of course, the fare I had this afternoon has now gone up AGAIN… argh! I am just waiting for that exciting day when it drops…

Don’t forget to look for charters and all-inclusives, even if you want to book a different hotel. Sometimes these fares are cheaper than the airfare on its’ own.
