I bought the Make up forever HD Foundation and powder from sephora.  It’s designed for High defention film and photography.  The makeup artist recommend using downstrokes when you apply makeup for photography, and it helps hide any "peach fuzz" you may have.  I’ve been using the foundation since I bought it, and I will say that I haven’t had any breakouts since I started.  I was using Clinique before, and would occasionally break out.  I don’t know if its luck, or the makeup change, but I’m going to keep using the new stuff.

I also bought the Nars laguna and orgasm bronzer and blush set and i love it.  I’m very fair, and the bronzer is easy to brush on in light layers so it doesn’t look really fake.  I’m a bit of a makeup junkie, so the wedding is a great exuse to buy products that I’ve wanted but couldn’t justify.

Well I would go to Sephora and have them do a test trial on you to see what looks best on your skin.  Although I liked the idea of Mineral makeup, I was allergic to it.  So I was glad I tried it on before I bought it otherwise I would have had to throw it away.

I am wearing fake eyelashes to intensify my eyes since I have very fine eyelashes.  I figure I only get married once so I may as well go all out.  Good luck on searching for the perfect makeup.  Let us know how everything turns out. By the way, if you do sign up for the Insider’s Sephora card, every time you spend $100 you also get free gifts. You’ll also get a free gift on your birthday 🙂

Whatever you buy, make sure you can wear it again, even if just on special occasions! Wedding makeup is not like the wedding dress, you can and should rewear it!

    Hey girls,

I plan on wearing Make Up Forever HD foundation and powder. I am used to wearing no make up except under my eyes or mineral make up but I want to be 100% flawless for my wedding and the make up forever lasts and looks good in pictures!

What primer do you girls like? and what about to hold eye shadow? I have regular to slightly oily in the tzone skin.

    Thanks!

I find that for me, it depends on the product.  Expensive eye makeup?  Never been worth it for me in the past.  But expensive foundation? Totally!  I loooove MAC products – I use their studio fix and a mineralizing powder.  When I’m going to be at some event or going out, I’ll wear their primer too.  Definitely the best face makeup I’ve ever had.

I did just want to weigh in and say that I won a tube of mascara recently. It’s Bad Gal Waterproof, and it retails for about $20. Normally I use Maybelline that retails for around $5.

I tried it today for the first time and let me tell you: it is SO much better. I don’t know how well it’ll wear (I’ve only had it on for maybe 3 hours so far), but the difference is amazing:

1- it went on without clumps or glops.

2- my lashes look way longer and thicker than they do with the Maybelline

3- my lashes don’t feel heavy or stuck to each other like they sometimes do with the Maybeline.

I think I may be becoming a fan of spendier makeup!

I mix and match. I think it’s about finding what you like and what works for you.  I wear expensive sunscreen (Clinique) and expensive moisturizer for the eye area (Clarins), but have a cheapie jar of Oil of Olay (just the regular pink stuff) that I love to use all over my face.  I wear drugstore brand mascara because I’ve heard it doesn’t make any difference for most brands.  I wear very little makeup, but do use fancy Nars blush because I feel like it lasts well, and I think Mac eyeliner is the nicest I’ve ever used.  I like the Clinique airbrush concealer (which is their knock-off the YSL Touche Eclait).  I think Sephora is a great place to go and try a few more upscale things to see what you like.

I think I’ll try a MAC primer and foundation. For mascara, I love the Clinique base, followed by the good old fashioned Maybellene in the pink tube.

If you don’t think you will wear primer all the time, Sephora sells a small size of the Smashbox primers.  I really like them anyway, but I don’t wear primer everyday and didn’t want to spend $40.  Smashbox also has a try it kit right now that has a foundation primer, Photo Op eye brightner, lip gloss, and a palette with their brow tech wax and three colors of brow powder and 6 cream eyeliners. It’s only $29 and it has a bunch of good stuff for wedding day makeup.

There are some products I definitely spend more money on, such as foundation and eyeliner, and when I used to wear it, eyeshadow. But I cannot find a mascara that I like as much as Full and Soft, but I’m not sure who its by. I’ve tried lots of different kinds, but nothing that I like as much. With more expensive make up, you use less and it stays on wayyyyyyyyy longer! So some products are worht it, but not all are.
