Hey guys! I like the look when bridesmaids are wearing the same color, but their dresses might be different shades.
Mine just bought their dresses – one in medium purple, the other two in dark/plum. I’m getting a little nervous that different shades will look too unconventional…but my wedding is casual and I told them to buy dresses that they love.
Here the dresses are with flowers (and I painted their hair color, lol):
Anyone have experience/pictures of their bridal party in varying shades of a color(s)? Fire away! 🙂

I’m doing the same thing. I gave my girls a swatch and style to shoot for, but I care more about them finding a dress that they love and will feel comfortable in then completing a vision for my wedding or having perfect pictures. I have my girls in grey dresses with red shoes, red or red and white flowers, and plan on adding red acessories, so even though all the grey shades wouldn’t match, I think by acessorizing it will be fine!
I think your purple shades look great!

We are doing little black cocktail dresses – knee length or above.
Three bridesmaids have chosen theirs, and three have yet to choose, but I told them they could go to the local mall the day before and choose. I understand that some brides need more time and want to see pictures of the dresses ahead of time, but I’d rather they just find something they like and will wear again (maybe even something they already own!)

also my attendents range in age from 15-34 and from 115lb-250 so lol finding all matching dresses (that look nice on all) would be tough

@futuremrsfitz18: I originally wanted to have them wear black dresses too! That’s such a cute, easy and classy idea.
I LOVE the gray + colorful accent idea (gray and yellow, or gray and red) but none of my girls looked good in gray. 🙁
Sigh, the side effects of having ghostly pale friends…

I love the look, but it’s really turning out to be a pain in the ass. I have three bridesmaids I asked them to look for long, light gray dresses appropriate for an outdoor ceremony. Only one has her dress. One says that she may have a seamstress friend make her a dress…One is totally confused since she sent me both pictures of a short dress and a light blue dress that she likes.

I gave my girls a few color options but they all ended up in the same color but different styles…
Here’s how they looked:

The different shades look so beautiful together! I love it.

Your dress look beautiful together!! Here are mine. Slightly different colors but I think they’ll fit nicely into our peaches and cream color scheme (I picked it cause it rhymes). (sorry I don’t know how to upload smaller files….we need a tutorial on that!)

@DrRoberta: Are those from JCrew?

@peachacid: They are indeed! The best part? Because I gave my girls so many color options and so much lead time, they each got their dress for less that $70!
