I was just prescribed Metformin to help with fertility and wanted to see if anyone else has has good/bad/no luck with this. I talked to my doctor about this or Clomid, but Metformin doesn’t have the chances of multiples like Clomid so decided to start with this and try for 3 cycles, then reevaluate. I understand that they are two totally different types of drugs, but both help ovulation/fertility in different ways. I don’t have PCOS, and everything I read about Metformin is associated with PCOS. We discussed the differences between Metformin and Clomid and from a medical perspective I understand (although am terrified of the potential side effects!). Any stories out there to share?
History – I am currently 34. I have high FSH (15.9) and very low AMH (almost undetectible). Two years ago I was told by a fertility specialist that I had about a 0.00001% chance of getting pregnant and wasn’t a candidate for IVF. Two months after that meeting I got pregnant naturally and now have a 16 month old boy. I had a miscarriage in April 2015, and have been trying since.
