Fiance and I are going to make some phone calls in the next few days to get an answer from the county clerk, but in the meantime – just wondering if any bees have been gotten married in NJ by someone ordained online?
FI’s Brother-In-Law got ordained through ULC and from what I’ve read online I think we’re ok, but I had a meeting with my DJ/Event Coordinator yesterday and he told me I needed to check and make sure its legal because he was told anyone ordained needs to preform more than 1 ceremony for ours to be considered legal. Anyone know if there’s any truth in this? Thoughts? Again, we’re going to make some calls this week, but I’m hoping some NJ bees can calm my nerves in the meantime. Thank you!!

I spoke with the Mt laurel county clerk and asked the same thing.
They told me that they’ve never had a problem accepting marriages performed by people ordained online. I specifically asked about ULC as well and the woman assured me it wouldn’t be a problem.
I left a message today for her asking what credentials an officiant needs to validate a marriage license and marriage certificate and am waiting for a call back.
What did you find out?

@jrzvol: FI, Future Brother-In-Law, FCIL and FUIL are all ordained online ministers, FUIL is actually a saint. As far as I know, FUIL hasn’t have any issues performing any ceremonies. For ours, he had to get some kind of certificate from the county we’re getting married in (we’re in DE) and that was all he needed to do.
