My brother got my SIL’s ring there almost two years ago! She got a yellow gold band with white gold basket/prongs, solitaire 2 carat round diamond. It’s BEAUTIFUL. She did have to get it resized, but she took it to a local jeweler. The only thing I will say, and she noticed too, was that the ring felt very light weight. I’m not sure why that would be. But it’s beautiful and their ordering process went very smoothly!

@mangojam:  she didn’t look into it through Vrai, but when she got her ring sized at the local jeweler, she did ask them if it was solid gold. They said it was, and since they had to cut into the band to make it smaller, I’m sure they would have noticed if it was anything other than solid! So I’m not sure what that’s about. I wonder if lab diamonds are lighter in weight than mined? But that wouldn’t make sense since they’re are the same makeup as mined diamonds, and also measured in carat weight. So basically I’m not help! I’m sorry!

@mangojam:  Just got engaged with a Vrai oval solitaire last weekend! I’m obsessed. It was a mutual choice and I’m so glad we went with Vrai. Super seamless process for my fiancé, though it was a surprise for me.

Specs are 2.35ct G VSI on a 6.5 finger. Here’s a video I actually just posted on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/EngagementRings/comments/ja700i/fianc%C3%A9_and_i_went_with_vrai_and_couldnt_be_happier/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Here’s a pic, but I think it looks whiter IRL, like in the video above.

Hi Bee! I have the knife edge platinum six prong solitaire set with a 2.38 ideal cut H VS1 round brilliant lab diamond and the matching platinum pave knife edge band- all purchased at once from Vrai.

please know that this review isn’t necessarily negative but was my experience. I did the virtual appointment- it was helpful but the rings they show on the video chat are cz center stones. My reps name was Danny and he was very helpful and nice. Maybe a month or so went buy and I found the above mentioned diamond in their inventory- it hit the pricescope suggestions for ratios for an ideal cut diamond.. 1.2 on the HCA tool.. I ordered easily, I love one stop shopping honestly. Which is one reason that drew me to Vrai. All in all I paid $8100 which for a mined stone with those stats I would have paid triple that just for a mined diamond. So the value is definitely there.

they do use recycled metals.. but my recycled platinum rings are sturdy and heavy. The fit was spot on and true to size. The claw prongs and thin knife edge and flush sit of the wedding band are exactly what I wanted in a wedding set.

Rings arrived within the time frame.. packaging is beautiful. Upon first opening the main ring and diamond blew me away. But after wearing it around a couple of days I noticed a brown tint to the stone in certain lightings. Not really ‘warmth’ but like.. just.. brown. I’m not overly sensitive to color but the brown tint in this just isn’t flattering in my opinion. I’m sure the platinum setting doesn’t help mask the color but an H color ideal cut stone should hide quite a bit of color.

I contacted Alicia at Vrai who is their CSR manager I think.. I sent her pictures, she admitted she saw the tint, and asked what I’d like to do. I chose to keep the rings and she had Danny gather my stone requirements to find me at diamond with no tint. 90 day return period for the ring so I knew I had some time. At first my specs were specific. Then a month went by and they couldn’t find me anything. So I dropped my specs and upped the price I was willing to pay by about 25%. Another two months went by and still they could not find me one round brilliant diamond without a brown tint above 2 carats. Alicia encouraged me to return the ring if I wasn’t happy. The thing is I waited so long for this perfect set and I just cannot let it go so I decided to live with the diamond. And that was totally my choice. They would have refunded me all the way up to that 90 day mark.

I know lab diamonds have tint sometimes- and I truly stared at the video forever before buying and truly thought I had gotten one without a tint. As a consumer I feel they should disclose that information regarding tint upfront. I’m disappointed that a large retailer who sources through Diamond Foundry couldnt in 90 days find me a round brilliant above 2cts with no tint.

I had to continually check up to see if they found anything. Although I guess I shouldn’t have expected a ‘still nothing!’ email from them.

a couple of things happened that now make me question things.

1. when I discussed returning the ring Alicia told me after I’d been wearing the ring in all lighting conditions, that if there were any signs of wear they couldn’t take it back. I brought up the fact that since they refuse to sell settings separately and they’re using recycled metals -wouldn’t they just be remelting my setting ? (since she told me they’re all made for the specific diamond you chose and cannot have another stone put in- would have to buy all new setting).. she then agreed to take it back regardless of wear and I agreed to wait out the 90 days for a new stone with no tint. I mean common sense- if you’re telling me I can’t keep the setting and you can’t take it back if it’s worn, but you boast recycled metals- ummmmm.. you should then be able to take it back without issue.

2. I posted two reviews. One under the setting and one under the wedding band. Neither of them made it to their website. The review wasn’t awful or nasty. Just truthful. I complimented them on many things but ultimately disclosed the brown tint in the diamond. I find it odd that those reviews never made it to their website. It seems deliberate to me as I posted the first a month ago and the second a week ago. Plenty of people have reviewed the products and had them posted, but mine is not there. I have the wedding band five stars. I have the ring three stars and a truthful review.

I’m past the return period, which was 100% my choice. I still hate the tint and the stone doesn’t have the light return expected from its stats.. I have to keep it clean every day to keep it bright. Otherwise it’s a bit dull. Other times it’s beautiful and I can’t stop staring.

I find it hard to return something that I waited so long to be able to get. It’s just me. I know it’s stupid. I should have sent it back. But honestly the other one stop shop places like JA, BE, WC, 1215, etc.. were more expensive and still source many of their stones from Diamond Foundry. So I just didn’t want to go through the headache again of looking and searching etc.. I spent months and months researching. So I settled ultimately. But by choice. Here are a million pictures.

@lauralei101:

I’m so sorry that you had a poor experience, and if you don’t mind me asking, in what types of lighting do you notice the tint? I can only see it in the 1st and last photo. The 2nd and 3rd photos are very pretty and your diamond looks very bright. For what it’s worth I think your diamond is very lovely!

@mangojam:  I’d have to double check my IGI Report but I’m almost 100% positive it’s a CVD Diamond.. I have not brought it to a jeweler.. I did insure it with jewelers mutual. Lab diamonds can come with different tints.. there’s one bee or one pricescoper I’ve seen that uses Frank Darling for her diamonds and work and they also source through diamond foundry. She has a gorgeous ever so slightly pink tinted emerald set in rose gold. It’s absolutely stunning. You can end up with a grey tint or yellow tint too. I don’t know much else about what causes them, but if you were setting it in white gold or platinum and it mattered one way or another you could always ask upfront for one with no tint. Had I known I would have done that. But if you set it in rose or yellow gold I doubt the tint would be noticeable.

their settings are what sold me. They’re sleek and clean and pointed. I will keep an eye out on Vrai still for one I can use their diamond upgrade policy on for one with no tint. It might take forever but I imagine the stars will align at some point. And for me it would be easier to stay with Vrai, knowing I have the upgrade option, and just remain patient and if something ever comes up see if I can snatch it up. If not, I do still love the set as a whole. It feels like a settle but really in trading some of that for the convenience of remaining with them.

@Nat04122:  thank you! I do think it’s lovely don’t get me wrong. Just .. I expected more I guess. Or less in this case. I wouldn’t call it a bad experience.. just a disappointing one. It’s mostly indoor lighting where the tint appears. Mostly my kitchen and bathroom and dinning room .. in direct sunlight (the rest of the pictures) it’s beautiful. It’s ok in most stores. I like it most in natural daylight but like just when the sun starts to go down. It appears brightest then to me. Unfortunately I’m in my kitchen ans dinning room and living room a lot these days since I’m working from home so I mean.. that’s where I see it most.

<div>My experience was very poor.</div>
<div> </div>

I had been a long time customer of Vrai jewellery — since the beginning when they were known as Vrai and Oro. They have since changed their name with a change of leadership– and now I’m wondering if that was a killing blow to the company. The recent experience I had with the Vrai jewellery team was, in a word, appalling. They shipped my piece to the wrong person, and then, over the course of 19 emails, acted like I was inconveniencing them with my requests that they rectify the situation ASAP.

I spent $500ish on a single earring and they shipped me the wrong order. I promptly emailed them about it and the manager I spoke with was giving me Karen vibes out of the gate — except in this case she WAS the manager. She insisted that they wouldn’t ship my actual order until they received the wrong one back in their hands. She said they had to be extra careful because “we are shipping fine jewelry and diamonds,” AS IF I hadn’t paid for fine jewelry and diamonds that they went ahead and sent to the wrong person.

Then, they refused to send Fedex to come pick up the item — they wanted me to go in person to a Fedex station DURING A PANDEMIC, as if I have time to commute to Fedex and wait in line after a long day of work to help them rectify their mistake. I spoke with 2 managers and they both brought the same energy “Thanks so much for following up and providing your honest feedback. I’m truly sorry for the shipping error and the inconvenience this has caused you. I see Kathleen has taken wonderful care of you, and located FedEx drop-off locations for the package…have a wonderful weekend!” Seriously?

At no time did anyone offer me compensation for the inconvenience, and when I inquired I was jauntily reassured “I will be more than happy to work with my Customer Experience Manager to provide you with a reimbursement off of this order for the inconvenience this has caused.” Needless to say, no one responded further about any compensation.

Honestly, this piece was for an event and I was able to make do with something else, but holy imagine if this was my engagement or wedding ring? I was drawn to this company originally when they were Vrai and Oro, and have spent thousands in the past. After this experience, I will obviously never shop there again. In fact, I was so dissatisfied with the customer service I ended up requesting a refund. They agreed to refund me, and the next day I received a refund for $39.55. I had to follow up with them AGAIN to remind them that they still owed me hundreds. I did receive the remainder of the money eventually, and as seems to be characteristic of this company I got a final passive aggressive email “I inquired about the initial $39 refund, and my Receiving Team let me know this was an error that was quickly detected and rectified. Please let me know if you have any other questions! ” Well Kathleen, I’m actually wondering who over there at Vrai knows how to do their job?

This business, from shipping to customer service to receiving to returns, is badly dysfunctional. As was stated in one of their many unhelpful emails, this company is shipping expensive fine jewellery and diamonds — SO I WOULD EXPECT BETTER. Of course, mistakes happen — it’s a pandemic, I get it. The issue I have here is the ridiculously indifferent customer service. I’ve literally had better responses from bots.

TL;DR: Do yourself a favour — look elsewhere to get sustainable fine jewellery. Vrai jewellery AIN’T IT.

@mangojam:
this is my 2.08 Radiant cut G VS2 set East/West in platinum . Pictures just don’t do it justice it is gorgeous and a fraction of what a mined diamond would have cost for same specs. My husband got this as an anniversary gift to upgrade my original set , we had to have that set sized down too much and I kept losing diamonds.
