Oh, I’m going to guess that its not going to work, but I’m no expert. The detailing would most likely get damaged… does the detail go all the way around? If it does, there would be damage to the detail where they do the resizing. I would take it to a REALLY good jeweler and see if they can work some magic.. but be very cautious.

ETA: I read your post again lol. Since its plain on the back, you might be able to get that done for sure! πŸ™‚ They might need to cut out some of the gold on the back side, just make sure they give that gold back to you if they do!

@MrsSnowMountain:  Ack yeah, I’m sorry. I cant read today lolol. I think maybe the only issue I see is that the detailing might change very very slightly when they bend it. A really good jeweler should be able to do it and it wouldnt stop me from getting it resized. πŸ™‚

@MrsSnowMountain:  I dont think bending it would be a problem since they do it for mens rings all the time! πŸ™‚ Just the detail since the front would be bent too.. I’m not quite sure how it works if they have to heat it up or what. I’m sure there are bees on here with much more knowledge lol. Oh well. At least my attempts at helping gave you some “bumps” to help find more knowledgeable bees!

Any reputable jeweler will know their skills.  THEY will be able to advise whether they feel confident and comfortable taking on the job of resizing this ring.

I find this true whenever it comes to any artitisan type service.  Typically, the person will know their abilities and will commission the job if they know they can or cannot do it.

For instance, just this past Friday, a carpenter turned down a job at my house since he didn’t feel like he could finish up the job as nicely as he would have liked.  He actually gave me the name and number of a fellow contractor he recommended to do the job instead.

going down is much cheaper than up, but you will prob lose the design and fro 8 to 4.5 is a HUGE size difference.

I think it will be around $50 based on my experience.
