i have found 3 dresses in the last 2 months that were perfect in every way except they featured an exposed zipper in the back. Exhibit a:
am I being silly or do exposed zippers make people think about unzipping the dress? I work with all men so maybe I am overly sensitive to it.

It is so common in fashion that my mind doesn’t go there. If it makes you uncomfortable then skip it.
The one exception- I had a business function yesterday and a colleage was wearing a tight skirt and the zipper started above her knee to her crotch. I could only imagine how embarassing it would be if the zipper busted.

I also work with only men and wouldn’t wear this to work. Obviously no one would do anything about the dress, but I do think it would give me unwanted attention that I’d rather just avoid. But hey, that’s just my low-key engineer’s opinion.
That said, I’d totally wear this dress to a party or something. Its super cute.

I think the thought probably would cross some people’s minds but not to the point of being inappropriate, it’s subtly sexy and imo more appropriate for a party but it’s not naughty.

GulfCoastBride: I see that as a cute subtley sexy after-work dress. Wouldn’t wear it to work.

Yeah, probably too sexy for the office, in my super conservative opinion (I work with all guys, too!)

You could always throw a cute, bright blazer or cardigan on top to hide most of “exposed” part. But honestly I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it–no cleavage, moest length, shouldes covered. The zipper just gives it a little something extra!

I have a dress with a zipper like that. It doesn’t come off as sexy to me. Your dress looks pretty conservative on the model.

I don’t see anything overtly sexy about that dress. You are completely covered. The zipper is just an embellishment on a basic black dress.

GulfCoastBride: I don’t think its too sexy for the office. However, it IS sexy. I always think naughty when I see dresses like that (but in a joking way – I’m a “that’s what she said” type of thought process). I don’t think it’s inappropriate though. I see that a lot more now because its the style. Some men will always think dirty cuz, well, they’re men haha but if your comfortable then shit, go for it! You’ll look hot!

Oh man, I thought you were referring to something compleeeetely different when I read the title. Thank god you’re talking about dresses;)

My real concern would be that I’ve never bought anything high quality from that brand! Last summer I got a black maxi from them that literally fell apart the first time I wore it. Talking like huge rips in the bottom seam

I also only see it as an embellishment. The dress is below the knees, covers the shoulders. It’s just form fitting. I see the zipper as giving a slight “tough” edgy look to a plain dress.

GulfCoastBride: I don’t see it as naughty at all- its just a fashion embellishment. I wouldn’t see anything wrong with wearing that to the office- its actually quite conservative and I really don’t think simply having an exposed zipper makes this dress sexy. All that being said though, I hate the look of exposed zippers- they make me think cheap which I know is not true, but growing up all my cheap clothes had exposed zippers, and my nice clothes had hidden or side seam zippers.
