As a spinoff of an earlier thread asking when the couple leaves the reception, I was curious how long do you intend your reception to be? The current trend seems to be extending the reception with an afterparty at a different location. But instead of coordinating travel and invites, wouldn’t it make sense to just have a longer reception in one place if you don’t want the party to end? Just because the “standard” may be 4 hrs doesn’t mean that you are required to have that length if you want it to last longer.
Plus, most couples (brides especially) say that they wish the reception lasted longer because it went by in a blur. And alot of venues now are allowing 12-24 hrs at the venue. You also hear *all the time* about guests (and brides themselves) who say they were having so much fun that they didn’t want it to end, so why make it end early if you don’t have to, just to have the party in another location that requires a ton of extra coordination when you can have a long party with no breaks?
What are your thoughts and experience with this?
