Hello my dear Bees!
I wanna have a little something extra at my wedding but having a hard time coming up with ideas!!! I was thinking about doing a lantern release but my friend is doing that at her wedding 4 months before mine AND having a small brass band play some Mardi Gras style music! Then I thought sparklers would be awesome, but that would require everyone to go outside the venue and it seems weird to have everyone go out only to go back in.
The only other idea I came up with were belly or fire dancers for during dinner…to kinda get things going! However, I don’t know if my vendor will be too keen on flame throwers! I’d do fireworks, but I think it’s quite a bit outta my price range!
any ideas would be greatly appreciated! …cuz I’m drawing a SERIOUS blank!
heeeellllllp!

Thanks for the suggestions so far! Unfortunately, neither me or my fiancé r into Latin music/dance at all! I’ve also seen some people suggest a magician… buuuut that isn’t for us either!

I would check with your vendor about the fire dancers, they are amazing to watch and would definitely be at my wedding if the budget allowed

Without wanting to be a party pooper, lanterns are terrible for the enviroment, just awful. I know you probably won’t have them any more but it’s something to bear in mind 🙂
I went to a wedding last summer where they did a barn dance? XD I know that wouldn’t be to everyone’s taste…
Seconding to check with your venue about fire stunts – poi is very visually stunning ^^

Hi,
i spent ages debaextra about extra entertainment as our day is long (12 hrs) and we have lots of people flying over for the wedding so didn’t want everyone to have to sit and eat for 4 hours with nothing much to do.
my entertainment plans so far include:
a wedding tree poster for people to stamp and sign during pared inner drinks. I got it from Etsy and it looks nice (and not too cutesy)
a “picture corner” with a Polaroid camera and props for people to take pics of themselves and then stick in our guest book with a message. I’m also giving each guest a small coloured picture holder made out of card to take pics home with them. This will occur in between food courses
wedding favours are plexiglass boxes for guests to self fill from our confetti table- we are having about 10 different confetti flavours.
dj in the eevelantern
paper lanterns to be launched at mmidnight
however the thing I’m most excited by is… Our MARRYOKE!!!
basically instead of having a traditional video we are having this. Not sure if you’ve heard about them (starting to become popular in the uk) but basically you pick a song and during the course of the day the videographer videos all of your guests in little groups miming away to the song. They then edit it all together with the song overlying (so no one actually has to sing!). It’s much Much nicer than it sounds, is really fun to watch after and I know our guests will love doing it!!
hope that gives you some ideas…

@MaidMarian: You can get 100% eco friendly lanterns now, with no metal parts. I’m still considering it…
@strawberry84: What an awesome set of ideas!
OP, one of my friends suggested that she organise a surprise Chinese dragon dance for my wedding. I don’t know if she will actually do it, but it would be pretty cool, seeing as I lived in Asia for a really long time. Dragon dance, anyone?
