- Wedding: August 2015 - Tyler State Park
I am trying to plan a late August outdoor wedding. This will be a surprise for my fiancé if I can pull this all off. Because it’s a surprise and I’m paying for most of this myself my budget is EXTREME! I am looking for an outdoor venue for the ceremony, if the reception can be included even better. I would love a rustic barn wedding. I’m feeling exhausted from searching. I cannot pay $5000 for a venue, not even $1000 probably. Does anyone know anything in the Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, Chester counties or any of the surrounding areas that would have a reasonable rustic venue!?! Please help! Running out of time!!!!

In my search, the rustic barn venues are very chic right now and thus very expensive. I found one place for $1500, but everything else was 3-5k. One had a 12k minimum!
I would check at parks or with organizations like an Elks Lodge, church hall etc. You can totally do a wedding on an extreme budget. You will just maybe have to adjust your expectations. Yeah, look for a park, garden, or conservatory with a gazebo or something for a ceremony and an inexpensive hall for a reception.

Try a chapel. Those usually have nice rustic landscaping at reasonable prices too 🙂

Wait you’re surprising your fiance with the wedding?
Generally “surprise” weddings are surprises for just the guests to avoid gift giving etc. I can’t imagine one of the partners not being in on the surprise.
If you have a very low budget your best bet is doing it at someone’s home for free and spending all your budget on the food/drinks, etc.

Have you thought about looking at public parks? There are usually gazebos or something you can rent fairly cheaply.
FWIW, I would tell your Fiance and just surprise your guests. You want to make sure that your Fiance gets what they want out of the day as well.

I found an outdoor cabin rental for a whole week for 1,300 that will provide a place to stay for 20 people plus will serve as my outdoor venue. It was not listed as a wedding venue, I found it doing a search on homeaway and VRBO. Give that a try!
