There is definitely a weird family dynamic going on.
I think you should sort this out before the wedding. Honestly, it sounds like the parents are embarrassed or simply do not want to deal. It might be best to make it known that you and Fiance really want her and the others there. Of course only they know why they made that decision, but it seems like they aren’t being forthwrite with anyone including themselves.

It sounds to me like his parents would rather not have their daughter there so they can have their full attention on their son’s wedding. I understand this puts you in an uncomfortable situation, but these are their kids. I think you should respect their decision. Even though it does make them sound a little heartless.

rebeccasum: I completely agree, but when I read how they reacted, it’s the first thing that came to mind. It is horrible but sadly many people feel that way.

Perhaps you can hire someone for the day to accompany her at the wedding. That way her parents can be “free.”
