Primer is the most imporant. I’d recommend Urban Decay Primer Potion. Once you have a strong primer, technically any makeup will stick. Hell, drug store brands will stick.

Like PP said, MAC is considered the best of the best. Most brands at Sephora are great as well.

Are you doing your own makeup? Is this for the wedding, or just in general..? Be wary that MAC matte eyeshadows (not sparkly/shimmery) are really difficult to blend. Takes lots of practice. 🙂

See I wasn’t a fan of the urban decay primer potion. It was very difficult to get out of the tube.. My mother introduced me to Spackle! You can get it at sephora and it’s amazing!

I wear mosly MAC shadows. They last well. You should use a primer under your shadow to make it last all day.

I wasn’t a fan of the Urban Decay Primer Potion either. I use MAC Paint in the tube for my primer and Urban Decay shadow and it lasts all day long!

I use Urban Decay or ELF primer. I love the Urban Decay Naked Palette, but NYX single shades are also really nice & pigmented, and last long (for a fraction of the price). I’ve heard the NYX compared to MAC eyeshadows, but I don’t have any experience with MAC shadows, so I can’t comment on that.

I love MAC shadows, but also love the Urban Decay Naked palette. Another new favorite shadow is Lorac. It lasts all day with a primer and is affordable (available at Sephora). You definitely want to use an eye primer. I love e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer in Sheer and you can’t beat the price- $3.00! I also like the Urban Decay Potion Primer in Greed (gold shimmer) which, looks great with neutral shadows.

NYX HD Primer is a great dupe for the expensive brands. Like another PP said a good primer makes any shadow fantastic. Also, good brushes go a long way.
