I just got back from an eyebrow appointment at a local beauty bar for the first time in a loooong while, and I am not excited about the results. The lady at the spa used wax, but there are still small hairs left around they eyebrow area and between the brows. The shape isn’t great either, it’s quite bleh. I like my brows to have a bit of an angle, I think it helps frame my face. And surprisingly, the wax made me cry! Like huge tears rolling down my face. Not that it hurt that much, but it totally made my eyes well up.
I used to get my eyebrows threaded (haven’t done it in years), but I couldn’t find a place that used threading close to where I live now. For the past few year, I had just been tweezing them myself, but I got to a point where I needed professional help lol.
How do you take care of your eyebrows? Do you do it yourself or go to a brow bar regularly? What’s the best method?
I just tweeze, I’ve had too many waxings I didn’t like, and I’m too lazy and cheap to go to a place, pay for it, and possibly not like it. I live in a big city so I’m sure I could find a place that does threading if I wanted to, but I haven’t felt the urge and I like the way I do them myself! I suppose I could try to learn how to wax at home but I don’t feel like dealing with the cost and learning curve.
I think threading gives the best shape to your eyebrows, but I hate the way it makes me feel. I cried the first (and last) time I got it done and it felt like tweezing all my eyebrow hair at once! Wax doesn’t give as great a shape, but it removes the unwanted hair (and my stylist always tweezes the few that the wax misses) and it doesn’t hurt me like threading does.
yes threading is the best I feel.. it gets rid of the fine hairs.. And strongly recommend going to an Indian saloon too.. These girls are the experts. As for pain/ how the experience is, it will depend on the skills of the person threading. The good ones I have been have not been painful. It feels pretty thereupeutic actually.:D
I love threading, it feels like a massage to me! Plus, it gets the fine hairs I can never grip with tweezers. I got my eyebrows waxed ONCE in my life and I came out looking like Ronald McDonald. Never again.
PretendBee: waxing brows just never came out right for me. They usually took off too much. im a bit obsessive over my brows since I have dark hair and light skin and I hate that for some reason most salons want to take too much from the middle so my eyebrows are spaced too far apart!
the best eyebrow shapings ive had were from tweezing or razoring. And if I go to a salon I usually bring in pictures and to show exactly what I want.
just this weekend I found this YouTube video and I love the way she does her brows, I picked up a few of her tips and my brows def look better:
I swear by threading, when i moved to Australia i couldnt find a place that did it – and tried waxing a few times and got the same results as you did and ended up tweezing to neaten it up. It was so annoying!
Thankfully found a place that does it here in Sydney, hopefully you will find a place too. Else, try out new salons that do waxing and dont leave until you are completely satisfied!

I use to wax all the time. I have fair skin and scar easily and waxing started to leave marks, so I switched to threading. Threading makes me sneeze the whole time, but it doesn’t leave marks like waxing.
Waxing will cause the skin over your eyes to sag over time due to damage to the thin fiber that hold your skin in place. Tweeze or thread. If you thread speak to your dr about Emla cream to numb the area and mitigate pain
