Sounds like you have skin similar to mine. I use a facial wash/gentle scrub by Lush called Angels on Bare Skin and follow up with a gentle toner (I hear tea tree by Lush is good but the one I use is by Yves Rocher) and then I apply Vanishing Cream by Lush and I have to say, my skin tone has balanced out. That being said, I very, very rarely get breakouts anymore. Now I’m repairing the tone and balance. I find I’m not oily by the end of the day, either.

@MrsEllieBellie:  Have you been to a dermatologist? I do, for I have a lot of moles. But she gave me a prescription lotion because I have ONE spot of cystic acne. I use clinique acne solutions 3 step. They also have an acne body soap. Here’s the body bar.

My mom used burt’s bees and really liked it.  Mary Kay makes a ‘natural’ face wash now but since ‘natural’ doesn’t actually mean anything in FDA standards I don’t know exactly what’s in it.

Okay….this is going to sound crazy but I beg you to give it a shot…it seriously changed my LIFE!  When my sister first told me about it I was like you. are. crazy….but for so cheap I thought what the h and gave it shot.  I’m not kidding, I can’t believe the skin on my face is still MINE!  At least read the article ๐Ÿ™‚  It made enough sense to me that I bought the oils haha

Oops I forgot to explain my skin before…sorry…

I had classic combination skin.  My skin was so dry after washing/exfoliating/etc-ing that it was tight and itchy.  But then by afternoon I was literally wiping an oil slick off my face.  Since starting the oil cleansing I haven’t needed any face lotion to moisturize and the afternoon oil slick has ceased to exist.

I also have huuuuge pores that I was always using biore strips on because of the blackheads.  Now My pores look 1000% better bc there aren’t blackheads like I used to have anymore.  I also haven’t had my usual pms breakouts either since switching.  I can’t even believe the amount of money I wasted on face soaps, creams, and everything else dubbed a miracle worker when all I needed to do was walk in my kitchen haha.

I’m posting to bookmark this thread – because I’m curious to see what the responses are.

I’ve recently started to break out too, mostly on my chin and lower half of my face which I’ve heard is hormonal. I’ve just started using Dermalogica’s skin care line, they’re a little pricey but were recommended by my esthetician (sp?) so I figured I’d give them a shot.

They seem to be working really well so far, I haven’t seen any new blemishes and my skin feels good. So, we’ll see.

@gogogiraffes:  For my moisturizing oil I use grapeseed because I happened to have some already in the house…but after reading more about sunflower seed oil I’m going to try to find some.

I use 25% castor and 75% grape.

@PinkPandaBear: my esthetician recommended skinceuticals, which my derm also carries. I like some of the stuff; I have a mask and an oil for controling oil. It’s pretty good.

Another recommendation for Dermalogica! I’ve been using the line for over 10 years and I have no complaints. My skin is senstive and leans towards dryness- everything is extremely gentle and effective. Where are you breaking out on your face? Breakouts around the chin/mouth area are usually hormonally related.  For your chest, do you typically spritz perfume on yourself there? It sounds insane but a lot of people don’t realize that this could be causing their breakouts in that area. Also, try to stick with naturally breathing fabrics, take a shower immediately after you work out and try products for the body that contain benzoyl peroxide like the proactive body wash or similar.

@gogogiraffes: Ooh, I’ve heard good things about them too! I’m kind of a skin care whore. Which mask do you use?
