I don’t know if you should use both astringent and toner together.  Seems like it would be too drying.

Do you use moisturizer?  I know it sounds counterintuitive but oily skin needs it as much as dry skin.  I use a balancing wash, toner, and lotion in the winter and an oil control wash, toner and lotion in the summer.

I think toners are more for every day use, as they usually don’t have as much/any alcohol in them so they’re less drying. Astringent is more for treating blemishes, from what I remember, so I’d use that sparingly, and don’t use toner on the days you use astringent. With either, make sure that moisturizer is in your routine to keep your skin from drying out.

I do an exfoliate and then Thayer’s witchhazel toner (astringent free). I found a plain astringent was hard on certain areas of my skin.
